Is it really impossible to leave Gransnet offcially?

Are we trapped for ever and ever? I know it is simple not to log in and not to post- but I would prefer to have my account deleted- so I am not tempted to look in and comment. Surely it is against Human Rights to not be allowed to request to be deleted.

I agree with your post of 19.42 Baggs , We all know now that jura is not happy with GN. Adieu.

MawB Mon 09-Mar-20 21:31:24

To be absolute fair to you when you have returned you kept your original Username adding 1 & 2 and you deserve credit for that

I do remember when Jura2 was Granjura > Juragran.

Eglantine21 Mon 09-Mar-20 21:46:33

So why post asking how to leave when you already know how?

Unless you want lots of people to say oh no, oh no oh please don’t go........

MerylStreep Mon 09-Mar-20 21:50:32

I could be wrong and apologise if I am but wasn't Grandjura banned over a spat with Greatnan / Greatgran?

eazybee Mon 09-Mar-20 21:50:35

What a lot of fuss. Just go and stay away.

ananimous Mon 09-Mar-20 21:52:32

Maybe she's off flying the globe now with her (friend) Meghan, and no longer has time to censor and rant on GN? hmm
She does need a rest...

MerylStreep Mon 09-Mar-20 21:52:42

Eglantine21
I do believe that was/is the intention.

Callistemon Mon 09-Mar-20 22:20:23

Yes, I have just checked and you do it yourself.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on My Gransnet and follow the instructions.

Or you could find out from GNHQ why some posters have been banned for no reason that anyone can fathom and then you could do the same. They are never allowed back.

Delete my Gransnet account

I am sure Gransnet would not wish to flout the Human Rights Act.

MerylStreep grin

However, GN is a bit like an itch that you have to keep scratching!

rafichagran Mon 09-Mar-20 22:46:36

Ah dont be like that, there is a Gran on here who at least 3 times to my knowledge has said she is leaving and everyone said please dont go.
I do think some of the remarks have been unkind. If I wanted to leave I would do it, when I wanted to, just delete the account with no ceremony. I would not give some of you the chance to say what some of you have said to Jura

Kalu Mon 09-Mar-20 22:53:29

Yes, I remember when you were Granjura, Juragran, Jura and Jura2.

Not the first time you have done this so I personally will not be asking you, yet again, to stay.

Surely if one wants to leave GN, the thing to do is, leave. That part done would then be the time to contact GNHQ and request your details are deleted. ?

Callistemon Mon 09-Mar-20 23:32:25

would like to be done with GN once and for all

Unfortunately, imdon't think anyone can stop you coming back, only you have the power to do that.
It is called willpower
Taking control

Unless you do something to upset GNHQ but I don't know what.

BlueBelle Mon 09-Mar-20 23:39:48

Oh dear this feels horrible I don’t know who’s good or who’s bad on here but it feels like ganging up and I don’t like it obviously I m missing out on something but surely it’s best not to say anything than this nastiness

Callistemon Mon 09-Mar-20 23:45:46

I don't see much nastiness, mostly just helpful posts.

It is down to willpower I think, but, as I said, GN can be like an itch! Or chocolate.

rafichagran Mon 09-Mar-20 23:45:46

Yes I think that Bluebell I must have missed something as well.

GagaJo Tue 10-Mar-20 03:41:56

I'll miss you Jura. XX

Marmight Tue 10-Mar-20 05:31:27

I think Jura’s gone ..? unless it’s only to bed

SirChenjin Tue 10-Mar-20 07:36:05

I agree Bluebelle - comments like ‘go away and stay away’ and ‘she no longer has the time to censor and rant..she needs a rest’ are the sort of childish comments you expect from the playground.

rafichagran Tue 10-Mar-20 07:43:31

This has turned into a nasty thread.

Baggs Tue 10-Mar-20 07:47:41

I can think of two ways to permanently prevent one from posting on Gransnet, two ways within the bounds of life and reason, of course.

One is to get one's IP address on HQ's banned list by sufficiently annoying them.

The other is for Gransnet to be banned in its entirety. I think we'd have to live in a military dictatorship for that to happen and even then it takes a stretch of imagination to wonder how a bunch of grans chatting about stuff could even get on the dictator's radar.

There are loads of other online talk forums though. So again, if one finds them stressful for whatever reason, the problem is one of self-discipline or, to put it another way, might be to say it's one of addiction control.

Wish you well, jura, but as you see from my comments above, it's really up to you. I'm sorry it's an issue.

Baggs Tue 10-Mar-20 07:49:02

The first option wouldn't prevent lurking, which I imagine can be just as stressful, if that's how GN affects one.

Urmstongran Tue 10-Mar-20 08:38:37

I just think the lady doth protest too much.

NanaandGrampy Tue 10-Mar-20 08:47:27

Oh I do love a good ‘flounce’ ! ?

Buffybee Tue 10-Mar-20 08:54:43

whispers has she gone?
