Every thread has a link to report the thread to GNHQ.

Yet no link to inform GNHQ that one thinks that a thread is good.

Every post has a link to report the post to GNHQ.

Yet no link to inform GNHQ that one thinks that a post is good.

So GNHQ may well get unbalanced feedback.

Na, diolch. I'll go for the Welshcakes though!

Discussion this afternoon was about learning languages and whether or not this helps to ward off dementia. Apparently studies show that it may well do so

Les français adorent manger du lapin.
Et des champignons.

DH had tourte au lapin when we went out the other day.
I thought of going to sit on another table but it was busy and we were supposed to be self-distancing.

Ellianne surely the German code should be Wurst or even sauerkraut. grin

How about “Do your Wurst!” .

trisher Tue 03-Aug-21 19:06:15

Fromage, wurst and sauerkraut! This isn't a revolution it's a picnic, or some weird Druid celebration I'm not certain which. Is the fromage coming through the tunnel?

Never mind tunnels and tempests, I feel as if I've fallen down a rabbit hole.
Or eaten a magic mushroom

Et une grande amélioration car nous savons maintenant qu'un rapport qu'un fil est très bon est possible

Doesn’t have the same ring as either of Shakespeare’s versions hmm

Oh I did not realise that they were intended as quotes of the name of a Shakespeare play translated into French.

So, 2 down 35 left for choosing.

Hmm.

La tempête

Much Ado About Nothing

All’s Well That Ends Well

Simple enough translations

And in the German thread the codename will be Käse.
Although probably best not to go there!

I've just found this. Someone suggesting feedback opportunities on GN! They'll be plotting revolutions next-OH! I've just thought is that why there are so many French threads??? Are you organising? I've got my knitting ready. (But someone will have to tell me when it starts my French isn't good enough)

Thought we'd get back to you trisher to keep you posted. The thread on the Stonehenge tunnel will reveal to you the times and place of our secret meetings. Just be careful not to run into any druids, they can get violent, especially when you're on the wrong team. The code word is fromage.

So the tunnel is to join up with the Channel tunnel - fromage!

Enough said then? I do think whoever “reported” your threads EP was a bit excessive but as the thread was not deleted surely it doesn’t matter. Tout un orage dans une tasse de thé as I’m sure the French don’t say!

Hi all

As moderators, our job is to sift through the trickier, more contentious stuff on site - we actually do miss out on the brilliant stuff.. particularly when busy!

However, don't be fooled by the report button. You can hit report to shout 'good read' or 'worth sharing in the newsletter' or even 'this will make you chuckle'.

Trust me - we'd really appreciate it, and it's something that doesn't happen often. But we're here for the good as well as the bad, so never be afraid to share with us by hitting the report button. flowers

Thank you for writing.

Thank you for the explanation.

Well everyone there is the opportunity. If you consider that having more than one thread for a language is a good idea and useful and that the idea of a café thread all in that language and a garden thread mainly in English to discuss the language and what is being said in the café thread so as to enable people to learn, then you have the opportunity to use the report facility to express your opinion to GNHQ.

I have now reported the post quoted.

Here is a transcript of what I wrote.

Good morning

As a result of your helpful post I am trying out how one sends in a positive report of a post to GNHQ.

Until I saw your post I had thought that perhaps clicking the report button would just report the post, I did not realise that the report facility worked by first going to a reporting page.

Alors! Beaucoup de bruit pour rien. !

Indeed ^Tout est bien qui finit bien^

Et une grande amélioration car nous savons maintenant qu'un rapport qu'un fil est très bon est possible.

A translation into English of the above French is as follows.

And a big improvement because we now know that a report that a thread is very good is possible.
