Why do some topics not move up the active thread?

It's all in date order on mine too, apart from the GNHQ topics at the top.

It depends what device you're using - on phone "Active" is the default but you can find "last hour" or last day but not obvious.
On iPad or laptop, last day is easily selected which is what I always choose. That way I think I see all posts in the order of the last post on the topic.

"wrong" in the sense of "incorrect".

Last day and Last hour have their full complement of News and Politics threads.

Am I missing something?

last hour is in alphabetical order by Forum name.

So Chat near the top, News and Politics further down.

last day is by the time of the last posting.

Both showing lots of News and Politics

The "Last Hour" doesn't seem to be in any particular order that I can see, certainly not by time. Although I'm sure there is one!

I generally look at the "Last Hour" but looking at the moment even that seems weighted with post from the 8 o'clock hour coming higher than the 9 o'clock ones.

I'm assuming that everyone is aware that "Trending" is just the last five commented-on threads and that if several people post after you on different threads then you won't appear on Trending?

Also, investigate "Watching" a thread.

On my iPad it’s the most obvious for me to use, Active is far left, as I’m right handed, never really noticed it.

I can’t imagine that many people use that function, as it’s a bit hidden away itself

I’ve never looked at the Active thread, I always click on last hour or last day.

Josianne I remember that the first 1000 pictures thread was one of the most popular threads on here, and it instigated lots of interesting conversations.

I’ve just posted on Josiannes ‘1000 Pictures’ thread and it’s nowhere to be seen!

The thread was fine for ages, then some lovely posters were commenting they were finding it impossible to attach their photos so I asked for GN's help. These posters are still unable to contribute. Then there was a problem because the photo thread got relocated under the Games heading instead of under Chat and no one could find it.
I am not complaining for my own sake, but if the thread is popular enough for certain posters to look for it regularly, then it is important to get it sorted. If it brings joy to just one GNetter then it is doing a good job.

I don’t understand the fuss about The Active list ?
The Last Day lists everything in order and more .

But does it?!
It’s impossible to know that all the threads are there (if you know what I mean)
Posters are only aware of threads that they either started or are on
