Why do some topics not move up the active thread?

The hand bag thread post from this morning is amongst last night's threads on my active board.
Now handbags carry a lot of weight, surely?

I just went to look for the "Benefits" thread Pippa Z had bumped it up at 9.46am this morning and I did two page refreshes on the the Active list and it did not show up. I now notice you have posted on it also FannyCornforth but it was still not showing

Ah nice to think we're pigeonholed into knitting and receipes. Because that's all old birds do. Whereas on Mumsnet they're allowed to talk about topical issues.

Although TBH, I'd be VERY happy if the Games disappeared. And the royal stuff.

I have noticed this and can only think there is some sort of weighting system. Like Whitewave I think it may be on the Politics threads.

I think you may have got Women's Own muddled with Women's Weekly though "Whitewave*. Women's Weekly (still going as is, I think, Women's Own) was the one that gave you knitting patterns for "Knit Your Own Nativity Scene" and showed you how to bottle your excess fruit. Very reminiscent of the war. It has been updated but still fits the same box.

What did they say Shinamae? Their response to me was firstly to deny that it was happening, and then it became apparent that they didn’t really understand what I was on about; or that they didn’t know very much about the site’s structure

I also told them that at the same time as seeing that I posted on a thread and it did not go on trending at all. Their response was oh it’s a temporary glitch it seems to be working alright now but let us know if it happens again. It has happened before and I can’t be bothered reporting it again ?

Instead of keeping them open, try "watching" threads. Works for me.

I found it in 'last hour" eventually. Haven't got a photo to post for the moment, but will keep it open.

Thanks so much for that Josianne, I access GN by using the active thread and I dont think I have ever seen that thread. But just had a nose and there are some great photos from Northumberland near where I was born, it was lovely to see them, I will look for that thread now.

The 1000 words thread has completely disappeared. I think it was in 'chat' and it can't be seen there, not in 'active' nor in 'Im on'. I am going to keep it permanently open when I find it again.

I reported this yesterday and sent the evidence but not A very satisfactory response from gransnet HQ

It is discrimination then uncertain topics are given priority.
