Pop-up ads driving me crazy

Suddenly I'm getting pop-up movie ads for Mr Muscle in the bottom right of the Gransnet page which will not go away. Close it and it just re-appears. Ignore it and it just keeps reappearing. I've no objection to ads at the top or side but pop-ups with moving pictures are just damn annoying especially when you can't get rid of them. I'm on a computer by the way.

I have had the same problem. I was trying to pm someone and Mr Muscle popped up and would not close. It wouldn't let me continue writing so I had to close down and start all over again.

Same here! I've tried to block, but to no available. It has appeared just now, while I'm typing.
I certainly won't be buying Mr Muscle now!!!

I have a sneaky ad sliding out from the side ! For Foreign holidays ! Chance would be a fine thing !

I will not be buying anything that appears in a moving pop-up ad that's for sure. I don't buy anything from anyone who annoys me.

They seem to be getting more and more and are becoming a real nuisance!

Driving me nuts too.

I haven’t noticed these. I mostly use an iPad mini, perhaps there is a blocker, I certainly haven’t downloaded anything.

Likewise Chestnut !

I use a desktop computer but I also have Ad Block which works a treat here.

BlueBelle Mon 20-Dec-21 08:42:47

Same Espee I have an iPad Air and although occasionally one pops up in the lower right corner its 99% out of my view so doesn’t impinge

TillyTrotter Mon 20-Dec-21 08:55:57

I have Adblock installed too Charleygirl but it doesn’t seem to stop these little blighters.

I get this too. Delete it and it just comes back, blocking the screen.

These ads have been on Gransnet for a few weeks now and they are very annoying. I do come on here less because of them.

Surely Gransnet can stop this.

Urmstongran Mon 20-Dec-21 10:25:05

They are beyond irritating and I don’t see the point of them because I don’t even look at the buggers I just press the ‘X’ to delete them.

Chestnut Mon 20-Dec-21 11:26:07

I've just installed Adblock Plus so let's see if it works on these.

Chestnut Mon 20-Dec-21 12:04:44

Well after half an hour no pop-up video ads have appeared, so Adblocker seems to have worked. Thanks Charleygirl5 !! ?

Mine's an Esso one driving me crackers. " Close Ad " and it immediately reappears !

silverlining48 Mon 20-Dec-21 13:08:57

Mine is Esso too. Can GN not deal with it, it’s really irritating. Is it another money earner? I close it and up it pops again.

Chestnut which browser do you reach Gransnet on please? Firefox? Chrome?
I have Adblock and use both, but still get them on GN.

NanKate Wed 22-Dec-21 08:34:06

I put a folded tissue on the moving advertisements to block the out.

Boz Wed 22-Dec-21 09:12:27

Beware Adblock. You get a free period then they ask for payment.

CassieJ Wed 22-Dec-21 10:01:06

They are driving me to the point that I will no longer use Gran's net. It doesn't matter how many times you "click close" they pop back up.

I used to use ad blocker which worked well for a long time, but companies now get round that by not allowing you access to their site.

Please sort these pop ups.

Is anyone on GN listening! ?

I think GN is only listening to the money and don't realise that without us, the users, there is no money. If they drive us away then that is the end of them.
