Pop-up ads driving me crazy

Suddenly I'm getting pop-up movie ads for Mr Muscle in the bottom right of the Gransnet page which will not go away. Close it and it just re-appears. Ignore it and it just keeps reappearing. I've no objection to ads at the top or side but pop-ups with moving pictures are just damn annoying especially when you can't get rid of them. I'm on a computer by the way.

I don't get them when using the Opera web browser on a PC as it blocks ads.

Thank you Chestnut. It sounds as if it may be a free trial offer and if you don’t take on paying for it, it ceases to work after a period of time. We seem to be over a barrel with it?

chestnut I hope your adblocker goes on working - as soon as I installed it these annoying video ads disappeared but very sadly they now appear every time angry

Chestnut which browser do you reach Gransnet on please? Firefox? Chrome?
I have Adblock and use both, but still get them on GN.

I'm on Chrome on a desktop computer. The pop-up movie ads have completely disappeared for now anyway.

The are certainly irritating me, hence I do not come on GN so often now!

Is anyone on GN listening! ?

I think GN is only listening to the money and don't realise that without us, the users, there is no money. If they drive us away then that is the end of them.

They are driving me to the point that I will no longer use Gran's net. It doesn't matter how many times you "click close" they pop back up.

I used to use ad blocker which worked well for a long time, but companies now get round that by not allowing you access to their site.

Please sort these pop ups.

Beware Adblock. You get a free period then they ask for payment.

NanKate Wed 22-Dec-21 08:34:06

I put a folded tissue on the moving advertisements to block the out.

Mine is Esso too. Can GN not deal with it, it’s really irritating. Is it another money earner? I close it and up it pops again.

EllanVannin Mon 20-Dec-21 12:12:36

Mine's an Esso one driving me crackers. " Close Ad " and it immediately reappears !

Well after half an hour no pop-up video ads have appeared, so Adblocker seems to have worked. Thanks Charleygirl5 !! ?

Chestnut Mon 20-Dec-21 11:26:07

I've just installed Adblock Plus so let's see if it works on these.

Urmstongran Mon 20-Dec-21 10:25:05

They are beyond irritating and I don’t see the point of them because I don’t even look at the buggers I just press the ‘X’ to delete them.

Elusivebutterfly Mon 20-Dec-21 10:20:14

These ads have been on Gransnet for a few weeks now and they are very annoying. I do come on here less because of them.

Surely Gransnet can stop this.

silverlining48 Mon 20-Dec-21 08:58:01

I get this too. Delete it and it just comes back, blocking the screen.

TillyTrotter Mon 20-Dec-21 08:55:57

I have Adblock installed too Charleygirl but it doesn’t seem to stop these little blighters.

BlueBelle Mon 20-Dec-21 08:42:47

Same Espee I have an iPad Air and although occasionally one pops up in the lower right corner its 99% out of my view so doesn’t impinge

Charleygirl5 Mon 20-Dec-21 08:34:12

I use a desktop computer but I also have Ad Block which works a treat here.

TillyTrotter Mon 20-Dec-21 08:31:23

Likewise Chestnut !

Esspee Mon 20-Dec-21 08:21:46

I haven’t noticed these. I mostly use an iPad mini, perhaps there is a blocker, I certainly haven’t downloaded anything.

Jaxjacky Mon 20-Dec-21 08:13:23

Driving me nuts too.

Bobbysgirl19 Mon 20-Dec-21 07:44:40

They seem to be getting more and more and are becoming a real nuisance!
