Hi all,

This is just to let you know that Gransnet will be offline tomorrow (Saturday 29th October) from around 9 am for server maintenance.

We'll keep the outage as short as possible, but the site could be down for up to two hours. We're switching Gransnet's hosting to a different server, which means some unavoidable downtime while we copy the latest forum messages etc from the old to the new.

We're really sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

I agree about the ads, but if that is what keeps GN afloat, then maybe a necessary evil. Annoying, but easy to avoid.

The Ads are annoying, I just click them off and don't even read them. I am sure the majority do that, so waste of time really.

It was wise of them only to transfer the files, without fiddling about changing things, however much we would have liked a few changes. A straight transfer has the ability to produce enough problems without altered functionality at the same time. If anything had gone wrong it would have been tricky to see what was due to the transfer and what to the editing.

Now that the move has been successful, we will just need to keep reminding them of what still needs attention.

Swear, s*d, b**ger and whatever else.

The annoying adverts and videos are still there!!

I don't usually swear but they are distracting and Adblockers don't seem to work.

I wrote a post this morning, and when I went to upload it it everything was frozen, and it disappeared completely. Must have been when the site was down. Didn't bother to rewrite it, as I was going out.

I hardly dare comment about the ads but ... ... so far.
