And that is the way to go. As it was never about a specific poster, or a specific example, but a general principle that if someone does not share certain information, it should not be constantly alluded to, especially as it is absolutely not relevant.

And that if some information is 'dug out' by pm, it should not be divulged. Simple. Oh yes, coincidences can happen- but if said info is obtained by pm disguised in friendly terms, with 'lips are sealed' promise- and then immediately said information turns up all over the place in numerous threads and posts, oh just by chance- then the 'coincidence' idea does seem a bit weird, somehow.

But no, no bullying involved, and no feeling of being bullied either. And as said, not about a particular instance or poster, but basic principle. Giving personal info should be a personal choice, and any eeked our by pm with a promise of not divulging, should be respected. As said above, quite simple really.

So there we have it. All the accusations that Some People were bullying the OP were false. As they so often are.

And posters can leave and return whenever they wish, but they mustn't be surprised when other posters recognise their posting style and may chat as they used to without realising there is a need for secrecy.

Glad you feel you have resolved it. Don't be surprised when it all kicks off again because the same individuals are repeating past actions (I am not including you in that, DD, just in case my meaning is unclear).

I don’t see Doodledog’s post as her claiming ‘to have resolved it’. Doodle appears to have drawn the same conclusions as ‘many posters’ about this strange OP.
Occasionally, a poster leaves, usually without feeling the need to make an announcement. They may return with a different name. Their politics/posting style usually leads regulars to spot the return of X.
Mentioning information given by the poster in a previous incarnation isn’t bullying imo

So the bullying of the OP by a certain group of posters didn't really exist at all, just a raking over of her reappearance under changed names and her recognisable posting style. So now you could say that that group of people have suffered hounding (bullying) and had their knuckles wrapped by a poster or two who got the wrong end of the stick. The gravity of comments on both sides doesn't seem that terrible to me reading the thread.

Yes, my feelings are as Joseanne describes.

My first thought was that it was, as Joseanne says, about someone’s country of residence being ‘exposed’, which seemed more like a dig at the poster who, seemingly innocently, mentioned it in passing. Then it all got a bit strange as the accusations of bullying started, and I assumed it must be something far more interesting. Then it got frustrating as there were dark ‘you know who you are’ hints, and threatening posts about people being banned, and I had no idea that was going on, having discounted my first theory. The thread was made into one about bullying instead of being about betrayals of confidence.

The thing is, if vague and unsubstantiated accusations are made about Some People, posters are damned if they respond and stand accused if they don’t. ‘If the cap fits’ causes innocent people to feel guilty and doesn’t allow the accused to defend themselves - it’s a witch-hunt, and bullying behaviour in itself. It is also very annoying when people set themselves above the rest of us like self-appointed thread police with the authority to tell us what and how to post.

Then it turns out that there was no bullying at all, but even then, those with the finger pointed at them get no apology - just an ‘I know your sort - you will be at it again soon’ sort of comment. So a verdict of ‘Not Proven’, but no vindication (even though the OP had said there was no case to answer), and attempts to close down the thread with no right of reply from the accused (whoever they are).

So yes, a strange and unedifying thread. I do think that if bullying or nastiness occurs people should call it out, but the Some People thing is a pet hate of mine, and it’s often bullying in itself.

No, I realise that, except that at some point there was talk of a poster mentioning information about you, which wasn't difficult to find. It was GagaJo (I think) who brought bullying into it, warned people about the risk of being banned, and dragged it out for a number of pages, then told us all to let it drop.

I didn't understand the bit where VioletSky mentioned something about a dig on a different thread, and a narcissist's prayer, but that seemed to be pointing a finger at someone. No wonder people were bewildered - the oddness was coming from all ends and sides .
