Surely not. People on GN should have the right to anonimity, unless they choose to divulge any private information, be it about profession, locality, ethnicity, or whatever.

Secondly, should any information given in a PM be fair game to share to other members? Surely not.

Oh good for Iam. Hand crochet dish cloths will lovely Christmas presents. Something someone would never think of asking for, but be delighted to receive.

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:17:13

😂😂😂

I'm starting in the New Year.
One for every Gransnetter.

Farzanah Sun 18-Dec-22 20:20:16

Pattern not needed. My dishcloth is just a cotton square. I’m a gangsta one day and a dishcloth lover another. Life can be sooooo exciting.

Iam64 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:22:35

Farzanah, you’ve broken my spell. I was pretending a pattern was needed. I wanted to be helpful 😂

Smileless2012 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:25:07

You mean Callistemon doesn't need a pattern Iam?shock

What! Just a square?

Which stitch do you use Farzanah?
My range is very limited.

I'm no good at crochet or knitting but did anyone ever have a 'Knitting Nancy'? You can still buy themshock.

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:36:31

Oh yes, I bought one for a DGD .
The modern one was rubbish.

Smileless2012 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:39:54

Oh what a shame because the ones available when I was a child were really good.

Anyway back to dish cloths. When you make mine can it have a red edge please?

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Dec-22 20:45:32

Gansta granny strikes again is on the BBC tomorrow, might be dishcloths.

So gangsta

Hahaha. Still, better than miserable, boring little old ladies, crocheting doilies.

Whats wrong with crocheting? It’s my secret weapon, the threat I hold over my (lovely) SIL s

Be afraid, be very afraid!

Nasty, stereotypical and ageist. A trifecta in fact. Well done.

I haven’t been able to crochet properly since I lost the use of my left hand, but I could probably manage a dish cloth. Must see what I have in my craft stash.

Blossoming Sun 18-Dec-22 21:06:22

Iam64. For you. smile

I haven't made one yet - does someone have a pattern please?
It shouldn't be too difficult, should it?
I am rather old, although.

I'm making cosy blankets 😁
The dog loves his.

I don't know if you need to be logged in to see these, but here's a selection:

a rainbow one to show support for Pride

and a clubbing one

and a festive Rudolph

Are they gangsta enough for you? I can't find any ageist ones for those poking fun at forum members (Ravelry has rules against hate and discrimination), but I'm sure they'll be out there somewhere, should they want them.

We just had four little nails hammered into an empty wooden cotton reel.

Life was tough😬

Lucca Sun 18-Dec-22 21:53:43

We used to dream of having four little nails……

Lathyrus Sun 18-Dec-22 21:54:35

My skills are not that advanced, Doodledog!!
I'm just a little old lady you know.

However, I have made a rainbow blanket 🌈

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Dec-22 22:48:36

Oh yes, four little nails hammered into a cotton reel can be very effective!

nanna8 Sun 18-Dec-22 22:58:41

What wool do you make dishcloths from, or do you use thick cotton? Just assuming it is probably cotton but not sure. Now I will go into my junk room and find some scraps!

Doodledog Sun 18-Dec-22 23:10:25

I've never made one, but you can get dishcloth cotton, or any leftover bits of cotton would be fine. The dishcloth stuff is cheap as chips though.

White string would be fine. You could even dip dye it colours of the 🌈 ! Oh, the excitement of it all for little old me.

I once made doilies in the 70s, cut rounds of ecru curtain lining and crocheted around the edges with ecru embroidery thread. Not something thé homies would be interested in doing of course.

I thought my dad the cleverest dad ever when he banged four nails into a wooden cotton reel. I made yards of the stuff, but don't recall ever actually making anything 🤣🤣🤣

I've crocheted loads of dishcloths from white cotton. My best makes though are pot holders from variegated cotton. Just a square or oblong done on a smaller hook so the fabric is tight in UK double crochet. I have so many friends who having seen the ones in my kitchen have asked me to make them a couple. Just a wizened, old, out of touch, gransnetter here. grin

Blossoming Mon 19-Dec-22 01:08:09

I’m sure I could work out how to loom knit a dishcloth. I. wonder if Abakhan sell dishcloth cotton. There’s a store not far from here. Might go and have a look after Christmas.
