Search facility

I noticed it hasn't been working for a couple of days and thought it was my device but then I found it didn't work on my other device. So don't know what's going on!

I've never bothered with it as everyone says it doesn't work. Just google it I need to find anything.

It does usually work, but is very clunky. It’s not working at all at the moment though.

I can never get it to work. I don't feel this is due to my incompetence as I can use the MN one.

It’s really odd that it works for some of us and not for others. Since joining Gransnet, I’ve used a Samsung tablet then an iPad and an iPhone. Search has always worked for me (up to now) using any of these three and on both the desk top and mobile sites.

If you know a thread title, but can’t get into the posts on the thread through the Gransnet server, there is a way round it. Type the thread name into Google, and it will come up through your internet search facility. If you click on that, it will take you into see the full thread, I don’t know why, I think there is an issue with the internal server on Gransnet.

Has anyone used the search facility today? I know some people never get it to work but I always have but not today.

No it’s been off a while now
It’s never very good at best but it does usually work in it’s limited way

I’m actually with Casdon 22/09/2025 21:35 on this.
The faff of trying the search facility, which only randomly works against the simple
just type into Google,
sometimes with just a username you recall,

or a title

or even a reference to the subject e.g. this morning I typed ID on Gransnet to find who was saying what about ID cards on GN in earlier years
Much easier and less stressful.

Separate issue but I keep getting a black rectangle covering the screen which says "Advertisement" and at the bottom "Please rotate your screen"..
It makes it impossible to see some threads and impossible to start a separate thread to report this.

If only happens on Gransnet and I get very few adverts so what is happening, please?

Ps it happens from time to time on GN but no other site.
