Is it possible to remove a topic from "I'm on"

I notice that the degeneration threads is happening more frequently. They seem to go through phases:

Early on, people are there because they care about the topic,
Later, more people arrive for stimulation, identity conflict, or social performance.

By this stage the thread has lost any point and it would be good to move on with it not still appearing on "I'm on".

Ok, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t have a sock drawer 😱
It’s been a secret for years but as we are anonymous on this site I know I’m safe to come out.

I do keep my soup and desert spoons separately.
That reminds me. Do the missing teaspoons and socks hide in the same place.

Mollygo Thu 21-May-26 08:30:39

BlueBelle my cutlery order, L-R is spoons, forks, knives, then teaspoons, but the spoons and forks must be lying neatly on the edge all facing the same way to keep them tidy!

Only the tea and coffee spoons are allowed to lie any which way as long as the handles are all at the same end.

I’ve been well trained!!!

Toilet roll, now you’re talking. My DH puts it on with it unrolling frontwards, I put it unrolling backwards. Where’s Marie Kondo when you need her?

One sock inside out technique, MartavTaurus, and in a basket, not a drawer, on a wardrobe shelf.

Cutlery drawer: spoons on the left, forks in the middle, knives on the right.

Toilet roll: unrolling frontwards.

I have an old net bag with all my socks in No tidy drawer for me 🤣🤣🤣
Don’t you love it when it meanders straight off topic to something entirely different
Where are we off to next, now what order do you keep your cutlery drawer in. I go knives, forks, spoons teaspoons left to right ? And i m not bothered which way the toilet roll faces

And i m not bothered which way the toilet roll faces
😲

I go knives, forks, spoons teaspoons left to right
Yes, the logical way
But - I've just had to rearrange my cutlery drawer because I bought some new everyday cutlery and the ones were too long to fit in the space for knives. So there are at the front the other way on now, most discombobulating.

Socks. Lay together, fold once, turn one cuff over. They do stay flattish.

So, with these here famous sock drawers, how do you fold your socks in order to store them?

Do you roll them up?
Do you just fold them one sock on top of the other?
Or do you use that turning one sock inside out technique and stretching the cuff over to keep them in a tight bundle?

Just asking. 🧦

Ah, at last a subject that we can really get our teeth into.
I have to be honest but I haven’t given it much thought lately, been too consumed with the price of eggs in Tesco’s.
But now that you’ve brought it up I will make time on my calendar.

Yes, we are back to the level of discussion a few do seem to think it's their right to insist on. No discussion by others on subjects not passed be thd GN mafia.

😁

Well, we have given helpful answers and now the thread is meandering.

Does anyone ever find lost threads in the sock drawer?

The topic wasn't exactly of world importance to start with.
We've been helpful, discussed the topic, answers given and now we need some social interaction!

Is that against GN rules?

If you go to the mobile site you can hide it.

I have a hilarious mental image of the GN Mafia boss sitting in her assisted rise armchair, possibly with a tabby cat on her lap. She has grey hair in a tight perm and she is wearing a crimplene dress with a knitted cardie and carpet slippers.grin

Allira Thu 21-May-26 10:47:57

😁

The cat thought better and ran off

You're right - and witty.

I hid most of the Games threads but then more popped up - sometimes they take up about three-quarters of Last Hour.
So I gave in.

ViceVersa Thu 21-May-26 12:43:18

The GN Mafia? Now that certainly conjures up some mental images! Those who allow threads to meander off-topic should beware, lest they find a horse's head in their bed one morning! grin

Recent actions may have solved the problem of stopping a topic appearing on I’m on if hiding the discussion doesn’t work.
There’s been silence on this thread since last night, but I’m risking this post.

Cardamom Sat 23-May-26 15:49:58

But that's just keeping the thread going Mollygo which is keeping it in active! The only way for it to slide off active is not to post on it! Duh!

You devil Mollygo!

I had an example of the phenomenon described above this morning.

The thread "Grammar schools - 1960s/1970s" has just been revived. I posted on that thread when it began, but it does not appear in "I'm on", although there is now a very recent addition to it. Why not?

MartavTaurus Tue 09-Jun-26 08:24:52

Oh blimey, I see I got deleted on here, as did Mollygo!
Can't remember what I said. Methinks someone has done some retrospective reporting as it was fine when the thread fizzled out. No worries.
