I'm no longer bothered by the look of my wonky, deformed legs. I am just amazed and relieved that they still manage to work well enough for me to walk about and not have to use a wheelchair. I do however try and dress, fashionably, to distract from and to disguise them as creatively as I can.

my knobbly knees - I can keep them covered. My cuddly size because bosoms and bottoms are in for the moment.

I no longer worry about going away on my own and what others may think of me. I take my Kindle and don't have a care in the world.

I don't care about high fashion anymore, well I haven't for a long time but I did when I was young. In fact I find fashion pundits and colour supplements that come with the Sunday papers facile with nonsensical prices for stupid products. It irritates me that fashion is taken so seriously it's such a load of fatuous bollocks, I wouldn't have thought like this once.

I don't worry about speaking up if I have something to say. I also used to buy something new to wear whenever I was going on an evening out (probably because I have never gone out that much in the evenings) but now I look in my wardrobe - I've loads of lovely clothes in there and don't feel the need to wear something new like I used to do.

everything that used to stress me out and worry me now goes above my head life is far too short to worry about anything

sallyb75 Tue 27-Jan-15 20:52:49

I don't care if I wear make up out as I'm not out to pull anymore. I've learnt that of someone likes me they'll like me in my bare skin. Same goes for my body if it's really that important them they're not worth having x

I no longer care what other people think of me. If you don't like what you see walk away x

Time - I stopped wearing a watch the day I retired nearly 4 years ago and it has been liberating!

grannykent Tue 27-Jan-15 21:40:22

I dress to please myself as I realise strangers are most unlikely either to notice what I am wearing or be judgemental. Comments from my husband/friends are appreciated but no longer sought or worried about my opinion is really the only one that matters to me now. I am honest with myself to know which days I am looking ok and which days not -i do not stress about the "not so good days" anymore -next day might be better!

I am no longer bothered about material things i prefer to spent my money on doing things. Also if things go wrong i don't stress as much.

frederickwilson Tue 27-Jan-15 21:58:16

when you are retired life is to short to keep on worrying about whats around the corner so i always look on the bright side of life

I no longer worry about my fat legs; they haven't seen the light of day for so many years they probably think they don't exist any more....

Phoebes Tue 27-Jan-15 22:25:37

I no longer feel self-conscious because at long last I have realised that everyone is so wrapped up in themselves that they really don't think about anyone else!!!
There are some advantages in getting older!

My eye brows! I used to pluck my eye brows every 3 or 4 days but now just leave them and do occasionally. They have grey/silver hairs in them anyway now!

I suffer from depression and the black cloud is certainly there right now.

But do you know something ......... it no longer bothers me because I know now from experience that it will pass and I will enjoy my walks along the seashore again soon!!!

Breaking wind in public (blush). When I was younger I assumed I was the only person in the whole world who ever broke wind and would have died from embarassment if it had happened in public. Now I would just say 'excuse me' and carry on with life. It was a revelation to find out EVERYBODY in the world breaks wind (smile) x

What other people think of me, and their opinions of me.

I like who I am, so I don't really care whether anyone else does or not.. except immediate family & friends of course, but I know they like me ;)

catmiaow Wed 28-Jan-15 14:49:16

wearing a shorter top, I hate my elbows normally but now I don't care what people think.

sscrase Wed 28-Jan-15 14:54:11

New music, I find it all very manufactured and avoid at all times.

alabaster Wed 28-Jan-15 14:55:11

Having retired, not being defined by the job that I did. I never felt this but others seemed to.

pgwynne Wed 28-Jan-15 14:57:15

I am now 45, 46 in March. I don't regard myself as being old at all. I think that it all in the mind. I go to the gym twice a week to do Body Attack workouts etc, do as much cycling with the family as I can. I may be going grey but hey, it can be dyed quite easily. We all look after ourselves much better now days, much better than our parents did.

kellyjane37 Wed 28-Jan-15 14:57:18

It doesn't bother me about how I look on the beach. There are so many shapes and sizes mine can't be the worst!

davidhur Wed 28-Jan-15 15:01:36
