Do as I've always done, dress to suit me not other people, decorate my house to suit me, have a little dog, she is part of my family so when visitors call she's there as well, cook meals to suit me-(I am on my own) and eat when I please, my time is mainly my own now, learnt the basics of using a computer just 3 years ago age 68, it keeps my mind active, do keep in touch frequently with family either by phone, text or email. Life is what you make it.

I no longer worry about what other people think.

It always saddens me to see older women who no longer care about their appearance. Come on all you Gransnetters It is even more important to make an effort as we get older otherwise we just disappear into the woodwork.

I've stopped worrying about what others think of me - it's quite amusing when people bait you and they get no reaction - well maybe a shrug or a bored sigh. Wish I'd been like this 30 years ago!

If people aren't particularly "nice". That is their problem not mine and I just don't bother with them!! Their loss.

I think trying to understand the male species. I used to worry about what my partner thought etc and try to understand the logic but HEY - I have given up - now I don't try to understand them I just accept and carry on ....

I no longer feel guilty about having a lazy day, happily reading or watching TV instead of all the manic housework/shopping/socialising/intellectualising activities that I thought used to define me.
I'm happy in my skin, somewhat wrinkly and far from perfect but mine!

I no longer worry about what I'm going to wear when I'm going anywhere - I wear what I like and feel good in and don't care if I'm not dressed the same as everyone else

I'm no longer bothered about posting on Gransnet when I really have nothing interesting to say!

I don't worry about how others perceive me, I feel more myself rather than trying to please others

Bizarrely I no longer worry about dying after going unconscious a couple of days after a knee replacement op - I didn't know a thing!

lilmiztam22 Sat 31-Jan-15 11:22:22

I think that I care less about what people think - I no longer am afraid of making a fool of myself!

soop Sat 31-Jan-15 12:29:37

Although at 73, I am far from perfect, I am very comfortable in my own skin. I no longer need to pretend to be confident...because, thanks to all my experiences - good, bad and indifferent, I am at peace.

I have let my hair go back to it's natural colour silvery grey and I love it. I think now at my time of life that if people don't like it it's their problem not mine. Since I have stopped dying it I have felt liberated lol

Flowerpower22 Sat 31-Jan-15 14:41:46

I have really (and I mean really!) curly hair which I used to stress over, always wanting it to be glossy and straight. Now, I just go with it and have learned to love my curls.

biddymarie Sat 31-Jan-15 17:24:26

I must admit as you get older you do get wiser.I realise that slip of a girl i once was will never be again lol.So i tend not to stress to much about my weight like i used to. One thing i still do each day is moisture my skin,I am wise enough to know by now if i don't my skin feels all tight & i also need all the protection i can get.

Trying to keep up with the Jones!

I no longer worry about my job. I will probably be made redundant in the next year and I can't wait, retirement is coming ! I do feel sorry for colleagues who are frantically updating their CVs and attending courses but it is sooooo lovely not to care anymore about any of it. I do hope I won't stop caring about my appearance when I retire but I am looking forward to sending all my office clothes to the charity shop.

pppepys Sat 31-Jan-15 22:30:12

I really don't care about the way I look now and it's a relief!

MixedSpice Sun 01-Feb-15 04:20:18

I no longer worry about being dressed in the current fashion. I now know what suits me best and who cares if it is not fashionable - certainly not me.
I wear what I feel comfortable wearing and often pick up items in sales that no one else wants because they are now 'out'.
I have also learned what suits me in the way of make-up so do not need to waste my money on experimenting but just go to my tried and trusted brands and colours and can make myself quite glamourous, in my eyes anyway, even if not in others.

Stujobohm Sun 01-Feb-15 07:08:52

I no longer worry about wearing high heels, I can look just as good in some stylish comfy flats.

thebmmate Sun 01-Feb-15 09:38:58

chez60 Sun 01-Feb-15 12:20:43

I no longer worry about my grey hairs.

Being outragious

swanlady2000 Sun 01-Feb-15 18:06:27

I now no longer worry about saying what I feel - I used to agree to things which I didn't always want to do, but now I will speak up - think age has given me the confidence to do what I want or what is best for my family.
