We all know that beneath every mild-mannered gransnetter lies the spirit of a younger, and perhaps wilder you - so we're asking what thing from your past your family or friends might be surprised at.

Whether it was that short stint as a rock groupie, being arrested on a CND rally, or even sporting a punk haircut and being expelled from school for it - L'Oreal would love to hear about them.

Take a look at L'Oreal's video and see what other surprises people have in their pasts:

When i was 18 me & my friends went to a party at someones house, the police came & arrested us all as some poor bloke had been kicked to death in a nearby park, we all had to give our shoes in & have our fingerprints done etc, it turned into a great night we got chatted up by doncaster CID & had a right laugh, my dad wasnt amused though wen he caught us trying to sneek back home barefoot at 6.30am & gave us a right dressing down. Nobody at the party had anything to do with the murder & the culprit was caught, thank goodness!!

When I was really little I stole a book from a shop in our village. I really wanted to read it, but didn't have any money - I planned to read it and return it, but was too scared to go back.

Once had the need to 'get away from it all' so drove to the airport and jumped on the next plane I could. It was a flight to Berlin.
All I had with me was my handbag and very little cash so I stayed in a little B&B and had to do a runner the next morning!

Hardly anyone knows about that!

Underage drinking in pubs, falling asleep drunk in bushes, being sick out of a window, waking up with no memory of anything that happened the night before. All alcohol related I'm afraid, I did like to drink myself in oblivion in my youth!

I once got arrested and spent the night in a prison cell for being caught up in a nightclub raid. I was underage at the time!

I used to stay at my friends house and she would tell her Mum she has a migraine so her Mum wrote letters to the school saying we were ill. I didn't divulge this with my children until they left school of course

I managed to get myself barred from, wait for it.. the chippy! I complained that my friend had more chips than me, it was a conspiracy etc and yes I was drunk at the time.

I experimented with my mums hair dye and turned my hair bright orange...It would probably fit in with todays society, but back then it looked outrageous!!

I ordered a pizza delivery for next door at 1am in the morning then watched out of the window to see it arrive. Then the following week I ordered a taxi and watched that come in the early hours...I feel really bad about it now...but a little better for confessing it.

I once hid on someones balcony in a hotel in Spain while trying to avoid a persistent guy. They phoned the reception, who phoned the police as they thought I was a burglar!

essexgirl46 Tue 26-May-15 14:22:18

Too many to mention I'm afraid including things that I would never want them to know about such as unaccompanied hitchhiking, being late for work every day and getting so drunk I fell downstairs and wet myself. Therefore I will never divulge or admit to any of it for fear of encouraging them or risk being called a hypocrite. I prefer to keep up the pretence of being perfect!

montiefletcher Tue 26-May-15 15:09:19

there are too many things that I have done that would shock my children, its even too shocking to post here. the past is in the past lets leave it as that shall we.

acanthus Tue 26-May-15 19:20:40

Well said nightowl and others - what a load of anti-social and unfunny posts, even if they are fiction.

blondejess1978 Tue 26-May-15 20:05:44

ah so many little secrets that my kids will never know!! maybe being caught by the police peeing in the street and fined was a particular low point!

paulandrach Tue 26-May-15 21:05:49

I've always been honest with my daughters as they've grown up and they know I'm not telling them about my transgressions because I'm bragging, but because I want them to understand the possible consequences of our actions.
