Aveeno seems to be the only thing that works for me

I get itchy dry patches around my ears for some reason. I have a steroid cream which I use for flare ups. I always moisturise my arms and legs after showering. I have also found bio oil useful.

Gerbera1959 Thu 22-Aug-19 08:35:13

I purchase lots of products to combat my dry skin. The best remedy I find is to use them! They do no good whatsoever in the drawer?

If I get dry or itchy skin I rub a little bit of coconut oil between my pans and then rub it into the area that's causing problems, seems to really help.

Making sure I drink plenty of water every day really makes a difference to my skin and it's something we all need to be aware of. Using a natural soap to wash your hands is essential to the prevention of striping of natural oils from your skin. I have found that soap based on olive oil is the best for me.

I get incredibly itchy legs after showering - not always, but frequently. This isn't caused by change of products. I use a gentle cream to soothe and alleviate the itching.

Since the arrival of the menopause my skin has become really dry and itchy and I find that my usual skincare products or no longer effective or they exacerbate the symptoms. I recently changed to E45 but it is too soon to say if it is working.

rwgray Thu 22-Aug-19 15:12:23

Swear by E45 for almost anything.

I've tried all types of creams to sooth my dry skin. I find that an oat based cream is more likely not to irritate my skin. But whatever I use I make sure that I am moisturising regularly throughout the day, from after I get up to when I am just going to get into bed.

ljcon Thu 22-Aug-19 19:22:36

I have always suffered from dry and itchy skin and find moisturising straight after a hot shower or bath, to work a treat.

I used to have really itchy dry skin behind my ears and the side of my scalp. I changed my shampoo to one that has all the crap taken out of it and I haven't looked back. Itch free and my hair feels alive again!

I’ve got very dry hands and find that body shop hemp hand cream is consistently the best at quickly relieving (and long term too) the dryness. I go round the houses with hand creams but always go back to this one.

I sometimes get very dry hands and find Atrixo the best hand cream. Use it every 2-3 hours and after a few days it is much better.

I have psoriasis and I’m struggling with itchy skin due to the peri menopause. I use various thinks to help , baby oil in my bath helps to keep it moisturised or I use sanctuary spa moisture for wet skin that I apply before I dry off after a bath. To me it’s about keeping the moisture level of my skin high without irritating my skin.

All the females in our family have dry itchy skin, 4 generations that I know about so far! My skin is like a sponge, put moisturiser or oil on and it sucks it up then gone, dry and itchy again? When I have massages poor masseuse always putting more and more oil on. If I could find something that works, my whole family would finally get some relief!

Hi I try to use slightly warmed olive oil .. massaging it In gently it seems to help a lot !!

moleswife Fri 23-Aug-19 10:44:45

I only use bar soaps not body washes and dilute shampoo when washing my hair - helps with terrible ear itching! It is strange that I have far less itching in summer than winter ( the cold, I know, exacerbates itching) so, at the end of the summer, I use up old sun lotion as it seems to contain all that skin needs!

joaniec7 Fri 23-Aug-19 10:56:58

I had terrible red patches on my face just by the side of my nose for many years after been prescribed steroid cream to eradicate the problem. It worked, but broke my veins ? I was referred to a dermatologist who gave me a range of emollients, but just prior to the referral, a friend told me to try Aqueous Cream. I have never looked back, I am delighted with it. In addition, I use hand cream at least twice a day and I always ensure it has glycerin in it. I keep tubes of hand cream everywhere , so I am never without ?? Good luck, folks

I have Urticaria, used to get eczema too, often have heat rash so I regularly experience frenzied itching attacks ! I take Fexofenadine antihistamine every day which helps a lot, but I’ve also tried various gels/creams to try and ease the itchy and dry areas of skin, currently using Dermacool aqueous cream with menthol, it has a cooling effect that has definitely helped me handle the heatwave, I’ve also been using Atopic Piel shower oil to help retain moisture when bathing, my 2 saviours through the summer. sunshine Looking forward to some winter weather ! tchconfused

I’ve always had dry, reactive skin. I try to avoid synthetically perfumed washes and bath foam, drink lots of water and use some form of emollient all over twice daily. Usually dry oils and gels work best but I’ve recently discovered Ameliorate body wash & lotion, which I’m loving.

susiesioux Fri 23-Aug-19 12:45:28

I have very dry hands and use e45 cream. Since the menopause I have very dry lower legs and I use e45 for this too

Grannyjacq1 Fri 23-Aug-19 12:52:22

The problem is finding the balance between a product that doesn't leave your skin too greasy and sticky, and something that actually works. Coconut oil is good - but too greasy for everyday use. The best product found so far is O'Keeffes - especially their foot creams.

KnittyNannie Fri 23-Aug-19 13:39:12

I have recently started making my own soap and have found that my skin is so much better now that I’m not using harsh detergents on it. I also use Palmer’s cocoa butter cream on my hands after each time I wash them.

Dingo Fri 23-Aug-19 14:29:11

Taking Vitamin E capsules can help also think some makes of Hair Skin & Nail tablets also might help??

Psalmody Fri 23-Aug-19 14:44:25

I rarely suffer from dry skin but on the odd occasion or if my skin feels irritated I find aloe Vera gel incredibly soothing and I follow it up with some propolis cream which is wonderful.
