We all have a dream destination that we’d love to travel to - somewhere where you’ve always wanted to go, but never got around to visiting. While some would love to go on Safari in South Africa, others would be happier lounging on the white sand beaches of Greece. Whether you’d like to travel near or far, there can be many barriers to travel. Perhaps you simply don’t have the time to travel, or think that the total cost of the trip might break the bank? Or maybe you have fears about not being able to speak the language, or your health not being protected while abroad? With this in mind, Staysure would love to hear from you.

Here’s what Staysure have to say: “At Staysure, we believe that if something’s worth doing, then it’s worth doing right. That’s why our customers voted us the UK’s Best Travel Insurance Provider in the British Travel Awards.

We all want to be able to enjoy our holiday, knowing that we will be covered should something happen. We do not want to have to worry about possible repercussions and for that reason having good quality travel insurance should be a priority.”

If you could book a ticket right now, where in the world would you like to visit? What are the barriers that are stopping you from going (eg health, finances, mobility, fear of flying)? Is travel insurance important to you when booking a trip? Does travel insurance give you the piece of mind that you’ll be protected when abroad, or do you have some reservations about what will be covered.

So whether you want to take the trip of a lifetime or just a short weekend away, share below what it is that’s stopping you and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one lucky GNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I would love to take my son to Machu Picchu but do not have the money

Oh dear. People really haven't got the message that air travel has an impact on global warming. We shouldn't be wishing for long haul destinations. There are lots of wonderful things to see in this country. I know a lot of people who have a 'holiday of a lifetime' every year. It's time air travel was rationed. (IMHO)

I've travelled abroad and always had travel insurance. I consider it as important as the plane ticket! Now because of finances I don't even have a passport. My dream destination is Scotland so the passport doesn't matter! I'd love to tour the highlands, my kind of place! Haven't got the money spare for holidays now though and if I went there I'd want to go for a reasonably long trip so it would end up being quite expensive.

I'd love to go to Australia, it seems to have stunning scenery, coastlines, flora and fauna and the people are super friendly. I just know if I visited, I would feel right at home and wouldn't want to leave

I'd travel to Zante with all my family. We've had some lovely holidays there and many happy memories. I would love to make some more!

love to see the Northern lights - however it's one of those things that you can never be assured of seeing! So a potential large cost for nothing. Would always make sure i had a good insurance for any travel abroad

I would love to go to Iceland to see the country which is sometimes called out of/from another world and of course hopefully see The Northern Lights but sadly not got the finances to ever be able to go.Travel Insurance would be a must have for the peace of mind but again could not afford the trip but if I could would definitely get a good policy smile

It's hard to choose just one ! I'd choose japan because I've never been anywhere like it.

My dream is to go on a tour of Costa Rica, if I win the lottery there'd be no stopping me haha! What stops me is price especially when you add a single supplement. Working in retail also because you have to book your holidays over a year in advance. The other thing is the fact I was expecting to retire in October & by the time I do retire my health will have deteriorated so I wouldn't be able to experience a zip line adventure, and do all the walking.

I would love to go to the Galapagos islands

Germany - A big country so much history and culture to see and experience. And the food and drink can be amazing - Spargel and a great German red wine - unbeatable

grannyrebel7 Thu 30-Jan-20 10:02:20

Israel - would love to visit Bethlehem and Jerusalem and all the other religious sites. What stops me is that there's always trouble there with fighting between the Arabs and the Jews. The area is just not stable.

Would love to go to snowy Canada but unless I came into some money I very much doubt that I will go

kaasszzaa Thu 30-Jan-20 10:13:27

Has to be Mooloolaba, Queensland, the most perfect place to visit especially as that is where my family live!

zabaglione Thu 30-Jan-20 10:36:59

I would love to do a road trip in Canada. The idea of all the planning is daunting & that is what is stopping me

burwellmum Thu 30-Jan-20 10:48:14

My eldest went round the world and I would like to do part of her trip and visit Australia, New Zealand, west coast of USA and then up into Canada and across Canada. I still have one school age child so to really do this trip justice we'll have to wait until he goes to university.

devito Thu 30-Jan-20 10:51:12

A road trip along the east coast of america, having completed the west coast a few years ago it's the top of my bucket list. I'm trying to save up for it as it's an expensive trip. I always get yearly travel insurance as the USA can be a very expensive place to get ill
