They might seem like bricks and mortar, but homes hold a lot of memories that make you feel attached to them. But the desire to move home - whether that’s to be closer to family, to have more money to do the things you love, or to achieve a more relaxed lifestyle - can outweigh that attachment, and Willerby would like to hear about what encourages you to consider a home move.

Here’s what Willerby has to say: ‘Willerby has been creating homes for over 70 years and are exceptionally experienced when it comes to making quality homes that are truly built to last. Our designers have created the perfect blend of style and practicality in all our park homes with amazing space saving ideas, luxurious touches and beautiful interiors and exteriors. Our park homes are built to last and offer stylish, low maintenance living for those who want to paint landscapes, not the hallway! View, download or order your brochure here. Get inspiration and details for our range of homes.’

Do you move home often for a change in scenery? What makes you think about moving now? Would it be to downsize? Release money for retirement? To achieve a more relaxed lifestyle? Perhaps you’d consider moving to be closer to family? Or maybe it’s appealing because you get the freedom to start from scratch with your design ideas?

Whatever the things that make you consider moving home, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £200 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We were due to move during the lock down but as solicitors were working restricted hours from home our planned move fell apart when it was discovered at the last minute that the solicitors for the property we were hoping to buy had not done any of the work necessary and our buyers demanded we move out almost immediately with no where to go, and no where available to rent in the area! We ended up having to pull out of the chain. Very very stressful and thousands of pounds out of pocket. A nightmare to add to the Covid19 nightmare. Roll on 2021

BradfordLass73 Sun 28-Jun-20 10:28:04

My goodness, Geordienanaannie how heartless of the buyers to demand such a thing.
And lazy solicitor made things even worse sad

I do hope things begin to look brighter for you in 2021 (or even sooner!)

Would like to downsize as my sons are grown up and the house is so hard to keep clean on my own.

GranJill Sun 28-Jun-20 11:31:05

I would like to move to a smaller bungalow with a smaller garden as the one I am in is far too much for me to manage especially as my husband needs looking after as well.

I'd move to Dorset to be closer to my family and this little one attached.

I’d move home to live closer to my grandchildren who mean the world to me. Being close to help would be such a joy. x

I am very happy where I live now but would consider a Park Home move they are so well cared for by the Companies.
Quite a few years ago when the ACs where smaller we very nearly signed our lives away on a beautiful house in Acombe just outside Hexham we just got cold feet after being dealt with by a very pushy Sales Negotiator looking back we should have gone ahead but we would never have had the life we had afterwards.

I would love to move to Yorkshire when I retire so that I'm nearer to my daughter and granddaughter but my husband likes living in London he would have some persuading.

Normally moving for upsizing or downsizing reasons! Including the home itself being suitable for our needs e.g. I have mobility issues so if we move in future that would be a factor too. Or to be closer to family.

I really want to move home because my neighbours are noisy and inconsiderate

WoodLane7 Sun 28-Jun-20 19:52:38

I love where I live now so no considering a move; in the past I have moved as I have changed location with my job; last time I moved it was to have somewhere with a garage - really hoping that that was my last move ever

We are considering returning to a town from a rural village to be closer to amenities and also for a better social life. Would love a little bolt hole in Spain if money allowed (it won't).

I live in beautiful Cornwall but have visited The Cotswolds a few times so that would be my choice, but as a second home,if I won the lottery!!!

My most recent move was following retirement. I moved 200 miles to live nearer my daughters and grandchildren. it was a big step, but it is so nice to see them regularly and to.be able to help.with childcare!

My hubby and son are interested in motorbikes. If we move to a bigger place it would be to accommodate their hobbies. More importantly it will prevent motorbike parts from spilling into my living space haha

A nice peaceful spot on the country with great walks for the dog.

After 46 years in an elegant 4-storey Victorian Terrace house, I regretfully had to move to a bungalow. Three flights of stairs and 12 foot high ceilings made everything hard work. My new detached bungalow is horizontal rather than vertical, and there isn't a single step indoors or out. The only item I had to replace were the curtains!

lexigran Mon 29-Jun-20 11:16:02

We have moved 5 times in as many years. Having sold our house up north to be nearer grandchildren we are renting until we find the place we want to stay.
The actual moving is a pain but it makes you clear some clutter each time and I quite like experiencing different areas.
We tried a flat but didn't like it and now have a lovely little house and garden and money in the bank smile

Kaggi60 Mon 29-Jun-20 11:32:15

My family was going to move this year but everything changed overnight so everything is on hold. We would like to down size after family gets settled but we got to wait.

mandydoherty65 Mon 29-Jun-20 11:36:46

We moved several times until 2002 due to my late husbands nomadic tendencies and at present I've no intention of moving again. I'm lucky to be near my daughter and grandchildren, in a reasonable area with mostly good neighbours

Charlotte15 Mon 29-Jun-20 13:11:41

I will be moving to a larger house as my kids need a roomto themselves. Would stay in the same area as i am near my friends and family and it is quiet.

Charlotte15 Mon 29-Jun-20 13:13:27

gorgeous boy

smnrose Mon 29-Jun-20 14:47:06

i would like to move because my neighbours are really noisy, also the area is not as nice as it used to be

Seakay Mon 29-Jun-20 17:19:59

I find moving exhausting, it seems to aggravate all of my symptoms and causes stress beforehand and at the time and a huge slump lasting up to several months a few weeks after. My last move happened because of a criminal landlord and lying agent resulting in my having no heating or hot water for up to 40 days at a time all through last winter, a garden so overgrown I couldn't use it. Having 2 moves in as many years has set my health back to a point I've never recovered from, to the extent that i only went out for medical appointments before lockdown and loosing all of those has meant that everything has got so much worse I can barely walk. If I had full health and a well paid job I would love to move every 2-5 years, employing removals experts to do all the heavy work, so that I could experience different locations and types of houses

SuzC Mon 29-Jun-20 18:22:35

We moved for a larger garden and to be off a main road.

The move I'd like to make now would be to be close to the sea - but definitely not that packed beach in Bournemouth!
