They might seem like bricks and mortar, but homes hold a lot of memories that make you feel attached to them. But the desire to move home - whether that’s to be closer to family, to have more money to do the things you love, or to achieve a more relaxed lifestyle - can outweigh that attachment, and Willerby would like to hear about what encourages you to consider a home move.

Here’s what Willerby has to say: ‘Willerby has been creating homes for over 70 years and are exceptionally experienced when it comes to making quality homes that are truly built to last. Our designers have created the perfect blend of style and practicality in all our park homes with amazing space saving ideas, luxurious touches and beautiful interiors and exteriors. Our park homes are built to last and offer stylish, low maintenance living for those who want to paint landscapes, not the hallway! View, download or order your brochure here. Get inspiration and details for our range of homes.’

Do you move home often for a change in scenery? What makes you think about moving now? Would it be to downsize? Release money for retirement? To achieve a more relaxed lifestyle? Perhaps you’d consider moving to be closer to family? Or maybe it’s appealing because you get the freedom to start from scratch with your design ideas?

Whatever the things that make you consider moving home, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £200 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

To downsize. Less housework and less gardening as we age and also to a more village environment

Happily settled in 4th house for 20+ years, then husband's sudden rare health condition unexpectedly forced a move to almost 300 miles away for specialist treatment. Don't envisage any more moves in our lifetime but now realise that 'best-laid plans of mice and men oft go astray'

We loved our previous home which was a lovley Town House unfortunately we ended up with most inconsiderate noisy neighbours from hell and after putting up with it for so long felt compelled to move. We now live in a detached house with an annex for my mother in law - we will only move when we need to downsize - which I hope will be a long way off

I would only move if my health declined , I love my home too much.

We moved from London to Merseyside 3 years ago, I'd never been to this area before and neither of us knew anyone here. The big draw was the size of the property we could get with our money, as we were moving house with our son and his partner, who live with us. We bought a large dilapidated old house, with a self-contained flat on the top floor, and a huge basement where our son & partner built a studio and rehearsal room (they are both musicians, and our son also produces records). We don't regret moving at all. My husband quickly made new buddies at the local golf course and I've found our neighbours are much friendlier than in London, where we lived for years and hardly knew anyone outside of work.

Do you move home often for a change in scenery?

Yes, I, move into a home stay around 7- 10 years and move to another home to make my own

What makes you think about moving now?

Wanting a quieter area.

Would it be to downsize?

Yes for our 'forever home' now the children have left home (but need space and a green area for the GC's)

Release money for retirement?

Maybe if our pension pot is severely affected by the downturn

To achieve a more relaxed lifestyle?

definitely - had enough of the commute and 9-5

Perhaps you’d consider moving to be closer to family?

Yes. maybe 20 minutes away

Or maybe it’s appealing because you get the freedom to start from scratch with your design ideas?

love to make the house I move into - my own. (knocking walls, new bathroom and carpets are always on my list)

I wouldn't care what size the house was I just want a view of the sea and a small area outside to sit and admire it.

I recently moved from my house to an apartment. My family had left home and I was living alone and unable to cope with the upkeep. My new home is modern and easier to manage.I am glad I made the move.

We have lived in an old cottage for thirty years in the middle of the moors ,with wonderful views ,and a proper cottage garden .
We are about to move into the village because my husband has terminal cancer and I don't drive , but Oh , I'll miss my peaceful hideaway, and great dog walks .
I hate the thought of selling our hideaway

Would like to move to a house in the country but could only afford this if we won the Premium Bonds.

moggie57 Tue 30-Jun-20 17:08:51

i want to move to worthing west sussex .mainly for health reasons and be nearer my relatives...fed up with big red bus coming passed my windows every day with all that pollution....

Sandals123 Tue 30-Jun-20 17:26:20

Motivation to move would be for a sea view, a larger house or maybe even a bungalow, a good drs nearby and a larger garden than I presently have. Other than that, I am perfectly content, thank you!

mikeil13 Tue 30-Jun-20 17:38:15

Having lived in the same house for over 30years and enjoyed every minute, I would happily move to a quiet area and house where i could be totally unknown.

cjrmar Tue 30-Jun-20 17:40:32

I would love to move to a house high on a hill with a lovely view. Would need to win the lottery first though.

A place on Anglesey as it's just stunning would be my incentive

jeapurs54 Tue 30-Jun-20 18:15:35

We are moving after my Husband had a heart attach followed by a quad by-pass, my Daughter decided it was time to move nearer to her so that she could help us with things. He had the heart attack in June had the op in September and was about to move house in March but the Corona Virus came and so we are still here awaiting the move in a few weeks. It has dragged on for so long I just want to get there. We are moving from Braintree to Durham which is a big move but hope it will be ok.

Terri1806 Tue 30-Jun-20 18:23:33

After the last few months of lockdown and being apart from family, I am seriously thinking of upping sticks and moving to be closer to my son and grandchildren, something they have been asking me to do for a number of years. It would also put me nearer to the sea which has always been a dream

mrsgreenfingers56 Tue 30-Jun-20 18:29:59

Garden becoming much too big and the noise from the road and surrounding area.

Djtfbmngd Tue 30-Jun-20 18:34:13

To be able to fulfill my 18 month old son’s potential.

GraniB Tue 30-Jun-20 18:46:48

We escaped to Devon and have our dream bungalow with a fabulous sea view. The only snag is my daughter lives in London and has recently adopted two lovely little girls. Coronovirus has made us feel too far away . We really need somewhere with a short route to London!

corbin1 Tue 30-Jun-20 19:01:07

into a nice house on the beach

sheila67 Tue 30-Jun-20 19:02:01

I would consider moving home to downsize number of rooms, maybe a bungalow. A nice size garden for family and friends to relax and grandchildren to play would be a must too.

NanaKaz Tue 30-Jun-20 20:04:53

If I could afford a really good one, I would move into a huge motor home with my husband and travel all over ❤️

Lindylou61 Tue 30-Jun-20 20:17:53

I'd need a lottery win to be able to move !
