Here's a new Wimbledon thread or those of us who love the tennis this time of year. Who's your favourite player? For me, it's Roger Federer, but Rafa Nadal comes a close second. smile

My niece has just put a message on facebook to say she cannot even begin to describe the atmosphere. They are quite a way back - just in front of the shade from the roof but I'm sooooooo envious. envy

Thanks goodness for that I couldn't have put up with his moaning if he had lost.

merlotgran Sun 07-Jul-13 17:33:10

Fantastic result. Well done, Andy grin wine

glamma Did he moan after losing last year? No, he did not. For heaven's sake just congratulate him. angry

annodomini Sun 07-Jul-13 17:44:37

That last game almost finished me! Novak was brilliant in his interview with Sue Barker. Andy still looked as if he was slightly stunned! he deserves championship. And glamma, he didn't moan last year. He was in tears because he was so emotional. There's a difference. I'm so happy for Dunblane too.

Grannylin Sun 07-Jul-13 17:46:56

That's what I thought too anno

merlotgran Sun 07-Jul-13 17:47:34

I'm happy for his lovely, supportive girlfriend. She is so dignified and must have been so anxious in that last game.

laidback Sun 07-Jul-13 17:49:35

I wonder if Andy will ever play better? What a champion. Fantastic tennis, two supreme athletes. Brilliant and great to see him smiling.grin

Just had a look at the threads. After all the excitement it looks like we're back to trimming our lady gardens and Andie has been accused of barking at 6am. Maybe he already knew the result? grin

I think we know now who is going to be anointed BBC Sportsperson of the Year.

glammanana Sun 07-Jul-13 17:54:19

Hey I'm very happy he won and so glad that he may get Sports Personality of the Year, but imo I did find some of the moaning he did on court un-necessary,his girlfriend is so so pretty I wonder if a wedding will be in the pipeline now he has achieved his ambition.

gracesmum Sun 07-Jul-13 17:54:53

And exhale...!
What an incredible Wimbledon it has been, life will seem very quiet after this! Brilliant, Andy - job done!

whenim64 Sun 07-Jul-13 17:55:02

Ooooh, I don't think I've been so excited since Arthur Ashe's final all those years ago. Absolutely stupendous. I'm thrilled to bits for him. tennis

annodomini Sun 07-Jul-13 17:59:09

Well, that's Wimbledon and what an exciting fortnight! Now for real life again!

Butty Sun 07-Jul-13 17:59:18

Brilliant. I am completely delighted for Andy. smile

soop Sun 07-Jul-13 18:01:37

Oh what a match...and what a wonderful champion...I'm dancing around the room with joy. grin

soop Sun 07-Jul-13 18:03:46

P.S. I didn't see the final point. I couldn't watch. Opened my eyes when I heard the thunderous applause. tennis sunshine grin flowers cupcake wine

I wish I'd had the courage to watch the last few minutes, but I was pacing up and down the utility room listening to the crowd reaction on the telly. This guy is the real deal now, and I think he can go on and win again next year. I'm so happy for the people of Dunblane. There's so much more to sport than just winning; it's all about triumph over adversity and faith and hope and redemption [and stuff like that confused]. Happy days! [Now for the Tour de France...]
