Here's a new Wimbledon thread or those of us who love the tennis this time of year. Who's your favourite player? For me, it's Roger Federer, but Rafa Nadal comes a close second. smile

My idea of heaven is sun at Wimbledon and rain at home so I can sit and watch it with a clear conscience!

The match had hardly started before he was wingeing about the light. Gamesmanship!

His supporters look like gangsters.

betsysgran Fri 05-Jul-13 20:52:54

To me it's cheating the way he's been carrying on about the light.

Backagain Fri 05-Jul-13 20:47:59

I don't understand this. In cricket there is a proper light meter which the empires consult endlessly and they finally decide themselves whether or not play should go on. It's not up to one of the players to decide to clear off and have a cup of tea angry

Butty Fri 05-Jul-13 20:44:57

angry

Well, agree or not, it is not either player's decision to make. Bit of an upset, let's hope Murray can be professional enough to put it behind him.

It's just not fair!!! It could spoil Andy's game! angry

merlotgran Fri 05-Jul-13 20:41:34

I don't like him either. How come he gets his own way about the lighting? angry

Tegan Fri 05-Jul-13 20:27:16

... I do NOT like this Polish guy; c'mon Andy [please!]

Tegan Fri 05-Jul-13 19:02:27

I'm ashamed to say that I wanted Del Potro to win everything and then become leader of the universe [sorry Andy blush].

gracesmum Fri 05-Jul-13 18:23:35

(I did wonder how you knew about Andy's toenails grin )

So.... quick comfort break and back to Centre Court the sofa!!

annodomini Fri 05-Jul-13 18:19:28

Well I missed the end of that match and thought that the next one would be well under way by the time I got back. Glad I'm here for Andy - with very nicely painted toenails (me, not Andy) grin!

whenim64 Fri 05-Jul-13 18:17:25

I need a stiff drink after that! grin ..........and now, it's probably going to happen all over again. I wonder if they'll fit this match in before bedtime? grin

merlotgran Fri 05-Jul-13 18:09:16

Excellent!!!!

Is it gin o' clock now?? grin

Tegan Fri 05-Jul-13 18:03:05

I kept thinking I was watching Russell Crowe in Gladiator confused.

vegasmags Fri 05-Jul-13 17:59:31

What a terrific match. Two wonderful players smile

Ella46 Fri 05-Jul-13 17:57:25

First class players. No swearing or shouting, just fantastic play.

whenim64 Fri 05-Jul-13 17:57:07

Wow! Anything after this is going to be boring in comparison. tennis

Well done, both players!

Butty Fri 05-Jul-13 17:51:02

Yep when. Superb. tennis tennis tennis

whenim64 Fri 05-Jul-13 17:44:29

Best match I've seen in years! I don't mind who wins now. They're both fantastic smile tennis

Ella46 Fri 05-Jul-13 17:34:05

Talk about the Labours of Hercules!

Tegan Fri 05-Jul-13 17:22:34

Understandable smile. Best match I've ever seen...

whenim64 Fri 05-Jul-13 16:59:45

I think I'd better calm down. I just posted a Wimbledon comment on the Jon Venables thread. I'm really, really sorry blush

whenim64 Fri 05-Jul-13 16:53:58

Just saw some close-ups of them both sliding around, anno and it was on the grass where no damage could be seen, just bits of grass flying up as they skidded. As you said, though, they really are pulling out all the stops! Looks dangerous when they end up sprawled on the court.

Ella46 Fri 05-Jul-13 16:04:11

I can't decide who I want to win and Andy's match might be a slight disappointment after this.
