There used to be a small coterie of rugby fans on Gransnet. What has happened to us? Am I the only one left? I have enjoyed most of the matches I have seen as 'open' rugby seems to be more fashionable than the 'heave and grunt' style previously commonplace, though the Springboks may employ that tactic against Scotland today. I hope not. Come on Scotland! Oh all right - Come on England too against the Wallabies.

wilma so are we heartbroken (my husband is Scottish). They were robbed.

Scotland the brave !
Great game, I was rooting for them, they fought so hard.

(I'm English) smile

I can't watch post-match interviews, whether rugby, tennis or whatever. They haven't had time to gather their thoughts - or even have a shower sometimes.

I always feel sorry for the guys who have to endure the post match interviews. Scotland always wears its heart on its sleeve and I wouldn't have it any other way. So proud we got this far and made such a fantastic game of it.

My knitting got tighter and tighter! Had to knit (Like those two grannies they show in the adverts grin) to stop me biting my fingers!!

I was rooting for Australia, but what a match. Well done Scotland, you played brilliantly, just one point in it.

The Scotland team deserve to be proud, representing the Northern Hemesphere in the semi finals.

What a very biased against the Scots commentary. From the moment he started Jon Diamond was negative towards the Scots. Poor Scott Hastings having to sit beside him and listen to it without retaliating. And yes I am a very proud and disappointed Scots wifie.

Big debate on validity of the last penalty. Will go down in history.

Well done Australia. Scotland were heroic! An excellent game played by two great teams.

I am trying to decide wether to go to the Irish Pub nearby to watch the Scotland match, it was great last time but a bit more wary this time ?????
I can watch it on one of the French channels but I like to be in a crowd.

jess that is a spot on analysis. I thought the Welsh team played brilliantly and that final SA try was one of the best - if not the best - in the tournament so far.

I was on a local train yesterday packed with Welsh and SA fans, singing and larking about. The atmosphere was brilliant.

JessM Sun 18-Oct-15 08:07:33

It was an honourable defeat. First half was neck and neck and SA had a real battle to win the 2nd help. Relieved that nobody stretchered off this time. I found that after the agony of last week a wine did help me to relax during the match. (I never normally drink at home.)
All Blacks have found their form, it would seem. What larks.

What a great game. So sorry for the Welsh team, they deserved to win. They certainly gave us a nail biting game to watch. They should all be proud.

Grannyknot Sat 17-Oct-15 17:29:06

I need a Valium

JessM Wed 14-Oct-15 09:32:00

oh dear - the Wales-Australia match was a tense experience that I did not particularly enjoy, what with the very-nearly-tries and all. Maybe that is why people get drunk while watching their teams play - it relaxes them sufficiently to make the anxiety bearable. Had to watch half an hour of Strictly afterwards to wind down.

As a Scot I am very happy It was a great anniversary present for me , not so for my poor English DH I fear I wont be so happy after their next match, But I can always Dream..........
