Delighted to read elsewhere that Andy Murray stood up for women tennis gold medalists in an interview with the ineffable Inverdale. Very exciting match with del Potro, but why did I keep thinking of Del Trotter?

Hopefully he will have a very long and happy retirement

My understanding of dressage is so pathetic that they all look pretty much the same but judging by the commentators he was faultless. I was too busy crying to watch it properly. Now scared to see the last few compete#stillcrying

Only just got in from a funeral, so missed the dressage - bum. It always leaves me in tears and done enough of that today!

Although I stated my intention (see above 1.19am) to stay up for the 100m, I noticed it was scheduled for 2.30am, so regretfully went to bed where I went to sleep immediately. Now feeling somewhat dopey. I like the dancing horses too, but do the riders really have to wear those ridiculous outfits?

I think we should give Michael Johnson British citizen ship. He talks so much sense...not that that is a criteria.

I couldn't help but feel a bit sad about Michael Johnson's record being broken though.

Perhaps Van Niekerk's coach could train us all for the next Gransnet Olympics in 2020? .

And BTW Van Niekerk's coach is a 74 year old great-grandmother.

What a lovely day we had and still this week to go!

I'm such a coward; I had the telly on in another room, listened to it and popped my head round the door from time to time. At least the Argentinians didn't seem to be boo'ing Andy; there seems to have been a lot of boo'ing at these Games, something I'm not aware of ever having heard before. anyway, he won. Phew. And breathe....It's all quite surreal at the moment, isn't it!

I am still up, having watched Andy Murray's match to the very end. And what a match it was. I couldn't believe the number of service breaks. Feel quite sorry for Del Potro who played his heart out. Andy had the crowd to cope with - a mob of vociferous Argentinians. In London, he had the crowd behind him. I might as well stay up now for the 100m.

At a time when the younger generation sometimes comes in for criticism, I just want to say it's a joy to these lovely athletes, so fit and healthy and so committed to their sport. They have committed themselves to rigorous training and commitment for a long period of time and I feel so much admiration and pride in them. Their success is well deserved. They will hopefully inspire youngsters to take part in sport in the future. All credit to them all. Great Britain is justly proud.
Me? I can't even run for a bus.

I wish I could stay up tonight, particularly for the 100m. But it's a DGS-minding day, so we've to be up before 6.

I stayed up last night to the bitter end, and my highlight was going to be Mo Farah's race. I saw all the runners introduced, then the next thing I knew I was waking up as he was wrapping himself in the flag
