Starts tomorrow, six weeks of stress and panic. Have my rugby shirt ready and remembered to bring David the Daffodil with me

Alima Fri 03-Feb-17 19:08:57

Where's Lionel the Leek? Good luck to all, tense here as Scots and English.

Anniebach Fri 03-Feb-17 19:15:46

No leek, already have David and Dylan the dragon . Scotland and England , stressed already

Cherrytree59 Fri 03-Feb-17 19:16:04

Yes looking forward to it Annie
I'm a lone Scot among England Supporters.
Have bought my young grandsons their England shirts and a soft rugby ball
My Oldest GS is now three so will hopefully have a little bit of interest in the matches.
All good camaraderie but I will still be shouting for my Scottish lads.
I also love all the national anthems.
smile

We should have been suggesting some suitable emoticons!

Anniebach Fri 03-Feb-17 20:26:51

A shamrock or harp

A thistle

A Rose

A Dragon

Cherrytree59 Fri 03-Feb-17 20:27:39

Yes I was thinking the same Elegran
But if we mention it we could end up with a wee man in a tartan tammie again.
We have also got our French & Italian friends to consider.

Elegran Fri 03-Feb-17 20:42:07

What symbols would you suggest for them?

Elegran Fri 03-Feb-17 20:43:16

A snail? A frog? An icecream?

Alima Fri 03-Feb-17 20:43:44

Onions and a large pepper grinder?

Cherrytree59 Fri 03-Feb-17 20:55:40

The cockerel for France (suppose we could use the chicken Emoji)
& er, em ...
Well the Italian spaghetti flag hmm

annodomini Fri 03-Feb-17 21:44:02

At one time it wasn't unusual for some French spectators to smuggle a rooster into the stadium. I don't think they would get away with it now.?

Cherrytree59 Fri 03-Feb-17 21:50:12

grin That's a new one on me anno
Must tell DH.
I don't mind them bring a rooster as long as they leave the drums at home.
I love the singing though.

??????

Teetime Sat 04-Feb-17 09:44:34

DH is getting ready - its his favourite time of the year. I've probably told you this but when we met he hadn't had much experience of girls just of rugby (despite having already been married once but that's another story) and his opening move was to rugby tackle me to the floor knocking the wind out of me. He thought it was romantic!

rosesarered Sat 04-Feb-17 09:48:58

Was there a touch down on the carpet Teetime ? grin

rosesarered Sat 04-Feb-17 09:50:34

DH is rugby mad, I have learned to live with it.
ab .....David the daffodil made me laugh, does it have a little face?

ninathenana Sat 04-Feb-17 10:58:32

grin grin roses

When I met H I didn't have a clue about rugby. After spending Saturdays standing on the touchline watching him play I thought I'd better find out about the game. I actuaĺly read the rule book, which H confesses he has never done.
I ? rugby

nonnasusie Sat 04-Feb-17 13:20:09

How about a pizza for Italy?

rosesarered Sat 04-Feb-17 13:45:58

How about a pizza anytime ( to eat while watching all the rugby) my DH would be up for that.

annodomini Sat 04-Feb-17 14:04:32

I was brought up by a rugby-mad father. Before TV reached Scotland we would listen to it on the wireless. As students we would take the train to Edinburgh and join the thousands of fans walking through the West End to the Holy of Holies - Murrayfield! The tiny TV screen of the 1950s has grown and grown and now I am able to watch it in HD on a decent sized screen. I am settling down for an afternoon in front of it. Good luck Scotland. ??????

aggie Sat 04-Feb-17 14:22:06

I know nothing about Rugby , but Rory Best was brought up in our village , so got the match on tv now

aggie Sat 04-Feb-17 14:23:08

I am from East Kilbride originally ! Who do I cheer for ?

ninathenana Sat 04-Feb-17 15:16:07

They're playing well anno
I'm team ? but enjoy a good game

annodomini Sat 04-Feb-17 15:25:02

Half time and if I was a nailbiter, I'd be down to the knuckles! What a match!
