OMG just imagine opening against Djokovic on Centre Court at the age of 19. I suppose somebody has to play him.
Nothing to lose, but I hope Jack Draper is out there for a reasonable length of time!
Emotional introduction to this opening match - felt quite teary!

Oh my this Murray match is so bloody frustrating

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 20:30:04

I can’t hardly bear to watch

MawBe Mon 28-Jun-21 20:39:23

Please don’t tell me that Murray is about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 20:48:04

And now we have to wait ……

Kalu Mon 28-Jun-21 20:53:34

I can no longer bear to watch. ?

Callistemon

I am getting rather annoyed about the commentator who keeps referring to Murray's hip.

Not sure who he is

The commentators are Andrew Castle and John McEnroe.
My heart is in my mouth, it’s so tense.

Millie22 Mon 28-Jun-21 21:02:24

This match should be long over he was 5-0 up fgs.

NanKate Mon 28-Jun-21 21:11:44

I’m so missing my favourite Rafa Nadal, come back soon.
David Goffin love to watch his style of tennis when he is on form, but he’s not here either. I think Stan Wawrinka is in recovery.

Can’t stand ND or DM but there are lots of lovely young players coming up.

Did you see Sonego last week in the Final with Sinner? As the runner up in his speech he said that his Gran had died 2 weeks before and ‘she was my best friend’. ? They we’re both excellent.

Come on Murray. ????

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 21:18:29

ND ? Novak ? DM ?

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 21:22:27

Am I the only one who finds the clapping to accompany Hawkeye really annoying ?

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 21:24:45

No you’re not Lucca

MawBe Mon 28-Jun-21 21:25:19

Or indeed to accompany the absence of Hawkeye (who has gone down the pub with HQ) )

Pittcity Mon 28-Jun-21 21:29:29

I've got tickets for next year (rolled over from last year) and am thinking of booking a hotel if matches are going on this late!!!

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 21:30:45

I know it’s not his fault but I’m finding myself getting exasperated with Murray.

tanith Mon 28-Jun-21 21:36:46

Chances to finish not taken

Luckygirl Mon 28-Jun-21 21:37:05

It is doing my palpitations no good at all.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 21:37:23

pittcity I would advise it. I was looking at the time and said to DH about 8.45 if I was there I would be panicking about getting back. Coming from Yorkshire it’s too much looking at the clock etc to do in a day. For my peace of mind its 2 nights in a hotel.

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 21:51:08

Finally !

MawBe Mon 28-Jun-21 21:51:20

Where’s that thread about blood pressure? Mine is through the roof.
But Phew! ???

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 21:52:11

Phew indeed ?

annodomini Mon 28-Jun-21 21:52:58

Phew! I swear that Andy looks ten years older than he did at the start of the match. That third set was a nightmare. I think he was saved by the brief respite when they closed the roof.

MawBe Mon 28-Jun-21 21:54:36

An incredibly tough first round match - my poor dog has been waiting for her bedtime walkie since 9 o clock too!

J52 Mon 28-Jun-21 22:01:07

So relieved!

JenniferEccles Mon 28-Jun-21 22:23:36

What a match and it’s only day one!

He sounded quite emotional in the interview but it does demonstrate just how much his tennis means to him.
It’s obvious that moments like this make all the hard grind of training worth it.

I loved how he kept thanking the spectators for their warm welcome and support during the match. It’s obvious how much it means to him.

Let’s hope he can recover well for the next match, and let’s hope our nerves recover too!

Kalu Mon 28-Jun-21 22:40:30

What a match! My nerves are shattered and BP through the roof. Well done Andy.
