OMG just imagine opening against Djokovic on Centre Court at the age of 19. I suppose somebody has to play him.
Nothing to lose, but I hope Jack Draper is out there for a reasonable length of time!
Emotional introduction to this opening match - felt quite teary!

Same thoughts here MawBe.

I have just switched on - he is making a good start with one service break!

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 14:18:06

Emotional for me too. OMG Draper about to take the first set. Love to see him knock him out

The men in blue suits who come onto the court between games are they body guards? Does anyone know I don’t remember seeing that before.
Draper having a great start.

And breathe! ???

I was worried that young Jack would be slaughtered but he's certainly holding his own at the moment. Excellent player.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 28-Jun-21 14:20:26

It is too good to be true! Whatever happens Drapers confidence must have received a huge boost

tanith Mon 28-Jun-21 14:20:33

OMG!

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 14:22:15

Great start for Draper

Whitewavemark2 Mon 28-Jun-21 14:26:38

Grass is too good and slippery

Excellent match from Draper. He's done himself proud. Not a walkover despite the score! Well done, and here's to a great future.

tanith Mon 28-Jun-21 15:43:40

What a good match I'm sure Draper will be a force to be reconned with in the future.

tanith Mon 28-Jun-21 15:44:46

Reckoned lol

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 15:45:21

That was exciting !

I know everyone says they don’t like Novak but I think he speaks nicely.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 15:54:02

Yes Draper did himself proud. Hope we will be seeing him again in years to come.
Switched over to watch Tsitsipas now.

Callistemon Mon 28-Jun-21 16:28:56

Jack Draper acquitted himself very well indeed, he should be proud and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of him.

Novak's post-match speech was very good, I was surprised.

Pittcity Mon 28-Jun-21 16:30:00

Not looking good for Tsitsipas. ?

Sar53 Mon 28-Jun-21 16:33:31

I thought Jack played very well for a first time at Wimbledon, on Centre Court and against Djokovic.
I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of this young man in the future.
I agree that Novak's after match speech was very good.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 16:56:17

pittcity not over yet but had such high hopes after Roland Garros

A wonderful effort from Jack Draper.
I have seen finals in the past where the commentator has said of a player that he hasn’t dropped a set in the whole tournament, so Draper will be hugely comforted by the first set.

He didn’t seem over-awed by the occasion and I hope he managed to enjoy himself there!

One to watch in the future.

Andy Murray later.

Not looking good for Tsitsipas. ?

That’s it for the eye candy then ?.
Some of these early games are a bit of a slaughter.

Pittcity Mon 28-Jun-21 17:42:59

Tiafoe isn't bad looking, especially when he takes his shirt off ??

He seems to be a personality with a sense of humour. Nice to see.

Callistemon Mon 28-Jun-21 19:40:48

I am getting rather annoyed about the commentator who keeps referring to Murray's hip.

Not sure who he is
