OMG just imagine opening against Djokovic on Centre Court at the age of 19. I suppose somebody has to play him.
Nothing to lose, but I hope Jack Draper is out there for a reasonable length of time!
Emotional introduction to this opening match - felt quite teary!

Come on Kim (not Lady Murray by any chance?)
Who can deny Andy’s effervescent charm, his optimism, his laugh a minute demeanour and his witty badinage ? ??

Kim19 Wed 30-Jun-21 22:44:47

Find AM general demeanour and attitude very difficult to watch but his skill and tenacity is beyond dispute. Good luck to him.

He does put us through the wringer doesn’t he?
TG I took advantage of a less exciting set earlier to walk Rosie who is now curled up on the sofa beside me- so it’s Goodnight from me and it’s Goodnight from her too ??

LauraNorder Wed 30-Jun-21 22:28:44

And it’s goodnight Oscar and it’s goodnight from me, goodnight

Pittcity Wed 30-Jun-21 22:27:34

...and it's a very good night ?

He really needs to just gird up his (possibly a bit sore) loins and get it finished efficiently

Lucca Wed 30-Jun-21 22:02:23

Oh no

Pittcity Wed 30-Jun-21 21:59:30

Come on Andy...it's nearly bed time ??

Lucca Wed 30-Jun-21 21:56:11

??

Thought ‘new balls please’ might take on a whole new meaning following that fall.

Lucca Wed 30-Jun-21 21:12:19

Andy Murray’s body language gets me down.when it is going wrong he completely droops … (that’s not a cheeky reference to his fall and injured area)
I feel kind of bad for his opponent when the crowd cheer even an unforced error.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 30-Jun-21 19:50:49

I know. Making hard work of it as always.

Can’t cope with Murray! Looks like his head is all over the place

Seeing Federer being waved away when he came to sympathise with Ammarino and then his trainer and A donning their masks and protective apron made me feel quite emotional. This bloody virus has become part of our lives hasnt it??

Gwyneth Tue 29-Jun-21 10:10:08

Well done Andy, Jack and Katy. Love Wimbledon but the match with Murray was such a roller coaster!

We all really enjoyed his match yesterday. Lovely having family here this week. All engrossed with the tennis last night.

Need to do catch up though as days are spent driving to lovely places around Cornwall.

What a match! My nerves were shattered and I couldn't get to sleep for hours because of the adrenaline.

He wasn't on top of his game with so many poor 1st serves. Just hope he improves. Every time he served and groaned, I thought of his hip!

Jack Draper is someone to watch. Well done to him.

Yes! He then saw fit to qualify it with “but it was number ones”!
His mum saw the funny side of it though didn’t she?

I expect he’s already thinking why on earth did I have to mention the blasted loo.

Poor chap.

Lucca Mon 28-Jun-21 22:53:06

His wife’s face when he said he’d gone to the toilet……?

Kalu Mon 28-Jun-21 22:40:30

What a match! My nerves are shattered and BP through the roof. Well done Andy.

JenniferEccles Mon 28-Jun-21 22:23:36

What a match and it’s only day one!

He sounded quite emotional in the interview but it does demonstrate just how much his tennis means to him.
It’s obvious that moments like this make all the hard grind of training worth it.

I loved how he kept thanking the spectators for their warm welcome and support during the match. It’s obvious how much it means to him.

Let’s hope he can recover well for the next match, and let’s hope our nerves recover too!

J52 Mon 28-Jun-21 22:01:07

So relieved!

MawBe Mon 28-Jun-21 21:54:36

An incredibly tough first round match - my poor dog has been waiting for her bedtime walkie since 9 o clock too!

annodomini Mon 28-Jun-21 21:52:58

Phew! I swear that Andy looks ten years older than he did at the start of the match. That third set was a nightmare. I think he was saved by the brief respite when they closed the roof.

Grandmadinosaur Mon 28-Jun-21 21:52:11

Phew indeed ?
