^Zoejory^. I wouldn’t go there if I were you. I played at county level myself. My middle son is a tennis coach and I’ve even met Nick Kyrgios in 2014 just before he went onto play at Wimbledon and beat Nadal. I could go on but that doesn’t inform the discussion in any way. Kyrgios has a bad reputation deservedly so. Tonight’s behaviour was intended to put his opponent off his game. In cricket it’s known as sledging - the Aussies are known for it. He once audibly informed Wawrinka at change of ends that his mate Kokkinakis used to ‘screw’ Stan’s current girlfriend It caused a lot of upset at the time. If he feels he can’t win with his tennis he will resort to childish petulance and displays of temper.
Obviously some find it entertaining. Personally, I’d rather watch good tennis.
I certainly will go there, tickingbird! I hope you don't mind. Maybe we even played each other!
My opinion is just as valid as yours. My credentials may well be better than yours, yours may be better than mine, but who cares? I'm sure you know that Kyrgios and Tsitsipas have a long relationship. They played doubles together. Tsitsipas knows him very well and is well aware of his match play and temperament.
Kyrgios has ended up being piled on by the media. He doesn't handle it well. He made some very valid points about social media and how someone becomes hated. Even amongst Grans! He has posted some of the vilest tweets he receives.
I know all about what Nick has said and done. There are endless lists and clips on YouTube, yes, YouTube of all places! I know he tanks sometimes. He certainly won't try for every point. He knows when to play the winners.
Obviously some find it entertaining. Personally, I’d rather watch good tennis
This match wasn't good tennis. It was brilliant tennis. Shame to focus so much on just Nick's behaviour. Had Tsitsipas hit someone in the crowd the 2 times he whacked the ball he'd have been booted out. Bit different to swearing, in my humble opinion.
