Please join us in conversation if you enjoy Wimbledon - it is just 2 weeks of the years and greatly enjoyed by it’s fans.

I know who I was supporting tonight and it wasn’t Kyrgios. Dreadful man.

Nor me. I'm sure he spoilt T's concentration.

It is not good tennis to deliberately try and rattle your opponent by your bad behaviour rather than your tennis skill.

The officials at Wimbledon must crack down very publicly on this. He was just game-playing - rushing to serve before ball-boys/girls had had a chance to return to their places - it is just plain rude and it should not be tolerated.

There is one lovely player who thanks them when they give him a ball. That is what we need; not this cheating show-off.

He is a good player - but he should rely on that for his wins.

He reminds me of John McEnroe-same sort of stupid distractions and bad manners.

I didn’t see the whole match but I saw enough at the end to see that Kyrgios was up to his old tricks.
WHY aren’t the authorities tougher on him? Is it because he’s a crowd puller? (Well a certain mentality of spectator that is)
When I think about how strictly they enforce the all white dress code, it’s extraordinary that such bad behaviour from the likes of Kyrgios appears to be tolerated.
His opponent struck a ball into the crowd I understand?

I think he behaves worse than John McEnroe. I really don't like him and hoped he'd lose. Unfortunately he didn't!

Luckygirl3 Sun 03-Jul-22 08:44:39

Tsitsipas described him as a bully - indeed so.

merlotgran Sun 03-Jul-22 08:55:47

Who is he playing next?

Amazing that McEnroe has morphed into the commentator with the most boring voice!

Millie22 Sun 03-Jul-22 12:45:12

I agree about the boring ... so boring voice and he never stops talking.

Really enjoyed seeing the past champions on centre court earlier. Heather's game seem to have picked up but she's going to have to do much better to win this one.

Kyrgios was a disgrace. The man can play so no need to behave like a toddler throwing one tantrum after the other. Far worse than McEnroe ever was, but I always a McEnroe fan; still am.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 03-Jul-22 15:13:10

Yes it was lovely to see all the past champions. Am I alone in being emotional seeing them all?

Come on Heather.

TopsyIrene06 Sun 03-Jul-22 16:03:19

No, you are not alone GrD. I remember all but Angela Mortimer. It takes you back doesn't it.

A few of them looked as if their hips may be dodgy. Good to see Chris Evert looking well after her rotten year.

Callistemon21 Sun 03-Jul-22 16:58:37

I remember Angela Mortimer too, she won in 1961 and she's 90 now!

Been out for a few hours, just settling in to watch Norrie, I like him, seems like a modest and unassuming young man. A bit like Nick Kyrgios in fact…not! I had to turn tv off when he started his antics, I was just getting more and more annoyed. I hope Cam wins, really rooting for him. I’m sorry I missed all the champions earlier, that would have been a lovely trip down memory lane. Maybe I can find it on catch up. ????

Grandmadinosaur Sun 03-Jul-22 17:33:32

Gosh I didn’t realise Angela Mortimer was in her 90s. She was the only one I don’t remember either TopsyIrene

LauraNorderr Sun 03-Jul-22 18:26:05

Well done Cameron Norrie. ❤️

joyce6135 Sun 03-Jul-22 19:07:25

I watched Kyrgios play Tsitsipas in the Halle Open a few weeks ago and he behaved just the same. Berated the umpire, said the lines people were too old, and was consistently rude. It’s time the governing bodies did something other than fine him, he’s a disgraceful tennis player. Last night two lines people reported him to the umpire, so why wasn’t he warned earlier. Makes my blood boil. However I thought Tsitsipas handled it well considering. Feel sorry for the umpires, but they need to do a better job.

joyce6135 Sun 03-Jul-22 19:32:43

And well done Cameron Norrie.

I remember rushing home from school to watch Wimbldon on our black and white TV!
We also used to be able to buy string bags of Wimbledon balls at school, which had been used during the tournament. Some had a bit of Wimbledon soil on them.

Yes, well done indeed. We need a winner.

I wish I could get some sort of pleasure from watching how brilliant Djokovic is, but I just don’t like him. And I’m not someone that expects my sporting heroes to necessarily be ‘nice’.

Callistemon21 Sun 03-Jul-22 22:42:04

He's trying to win the public over!

Well done, Cameron Norrie!

Callistemon21 Sun 03-Jul-22 22:42:36

He's trying to win the public over!
I mean Djokovic

Smileless2012 Mon 04-Jul-22 11:19:46

I can't watch him either MayBee, he's so arrogant. I agree that he's trying to win the public over. He seems to really struggle with not being popular, but doesn't help himself.

Cameron was brilliant wasn't hesmile.

I'm the same. I just can't like him, and when he's trying to be "nice", I don't buy it I'm afraid.
