Please join us in conversation if you enjoy Wimbledon - it is just 2 weeks of the years and greatly enjoyed by it’s fans.

He is, isn't he, so calm and no grunting. Nor from Kyrgios although it must be difficult for Jubb to ignore his rantings.

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Jun-22 14:38:36

Superb game Kyrgios v Jubb . Really enjoying it and 22 yr old Jubb is showing such maturity in himself and his play.

Zoejory Tue 28-Jun-22 14:34:47

No need to watch if you don't like it! Today we have access to so many channels and streaming services.

I have to admit I like Kyrgios. I was always drawn to the bad boys. Jubb is doing very well against him though. Nice player.

Here you are:
It started well but sadly got derailed. I hope this one doesn't.

SJV07

Sorry, not very interested, and find that both channels and the red button etc etc, for 2 weeks, is too much, .
Force fed, just like football!
Dislike Andy Murray particularly.

There is another thread for people who aren't so keen, SJV07

No need to spoil this one for those who are.

Kyrgios is a most unpleasant player and has been accusing the crowd of "racial slurs" against him.
I'd love to see Jubb beat him.

Honeysuckleberries Tue 28-Jun-22 14:13:29

Watching Kyrgios against British player Paul Jubb. Paul is a 22 year old black player from a council estate in Hull, who lost both his parents before he was 8. To even get to Wimbledon is such an achievement. He is playing so well but Kyrgios is being an absolute prat as usual. He is constantly yelling, talking at random members of the crowd, haranguing the umpire for as long as he can and so on. How is this not unsportsmanlike behaviour. It’s such a shame because he has all the talent, he does not need to do it.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 28-Jun-22 13:52:32

Just seen the sad news on Berrettini. He’s my number 2 after Rafa. Please let Rafa stay Covid free ?

Smileless2012 Tue 28-Jun-22 13:44:33

That annoys me too Sparklefizz in fact everything about that man annoys me so I can't stand to watch him.

Well let's hope that he doesn't do next year what he did at this year's Australian Open Jennifer, and turn up anyway because he has such an over inflated opinion of himself, that he thinks the rules don't apply to him.

He's respected for his game on the circuit I think Tilly but has never been popular.

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Jun-22 13:35:01

Yes he must have lost respect and friends in the game too.

JenniferEccles Tue 28-Jun-22 13:24:16

In an interview yesterday Djokovic stated that he will still refuse the covid vaccine even though as rules stand at the moment, he won’t be able to compete at the U.S Open or next year’s Australian Open.

He’s is a hard character to like isn’t he?

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Jun-22 13:15:44

Please don’t let Rafa get Covid - it’s dreadful that it’s affecting the players now there are here in the U.K. for our wonderful Championship at SW19.

Sparklefizz Tue 28-Jun-22 12:56:39

I don't like Djokovic at all. I didn't like his attitude in Australia, and I don't like the way he keeps lifting his hands up at the end of a match to show the crowd he wants them to applaud. People will applaud if they want to!

Pittcity Tue 28-Jun-22 12:49:21

Nooo, not Matteosad

gulligranny Tue 28-Jun-22 11:50:38

Love Wimbledon, but sadly no Roger Federer - the most graceful, elegant, lethal player ever (even better than the great Rod Laver).

It's great to see Andy Murray back and sweet Emma even had my non-tennis-watching husband spellbound. Cam Norrie did us proud, he's good to watch. And I'm so pleased that Rafa Nadal is here, although I fear he will be the next one to retire.

But I don't love Novak Djokovic and I don't know why. On paper he has it all, but there's just something missing ...

Streaky Tue 28-Jun-22 11:41:36

Oh no, Berettini has now withdrawn because of Covid!

JenniferEccles Tue 28-Jun-22 10:38:31

I thought that too about Norrie Smileless.
I do prefer watching men’s tennis anyway.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 28-Jun-22 10:16:00

Yes Cilic has tested positive for Covid Tilly he must be gutted.

Streaky Tue 28-Jun-22 09:43:55

Should be a great day of tennis, Rafa and Berettini. Doesn’t Matteo have the most elegant serve ever, I could watch him serve all day. Missing not being there, will definitely be entering the ballot again this year, hope I’m lucky.

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Jun-22 09:09:55

I heard yesterday Marin Cilic has had to pull out due to illness.

TillyTrotter Tue 28-Jun-22 09:08:57

It was a very decent first day for our players Charleygirl and
2 weeks more to come ? ? ?
Looking forward to seeing Rafa and Matteo.

Smileless2012 Tue 28-Jun-22 09:07:12

Norrie played very well and I'm a bit annoyed that he didn't get as much coverage when he won as Emma. He's our number 1 player too.

Sparklefizz Tue 28-Jun-22 09:06:47

Thank you for starting this thread Tilly. What a great first day! Nerves in shreds already!

Anybody notice that Andy has become more vocal? His grunts and groans made me feel that it was all a painful effort for him. I hope not.

Charleygirl5 Tue 28-Jun-22 09:01:49

I watched a fair bit of Cameron Norrie's match and he did not disgrace us, Three Brits won yesterday- that is a really good start.
