Any Brits to look out for?
Anyone here going?

And not forgetting Lucca, who loved the game and the Championship🌻.

I see the Princess of Wales is planning to attend tomorrow. I do hope it's one of her 'good' days, especially as William will be in Berlin.
I wonder who will 'buddy' her? Her sister, maybe?

I think it might be her two eldest children.

Ah yes. That would be ideal!

bridie54 Sat 13-Jul-24 15:44:59

Ooo it’s getting so tense.

Anniebach Sat 13-Jul-24 15:45:43

They were there last year

bridie54 Sat 13-Jul-24 15:45:47

Hang in there Paolini.

It was reported that Djokovic had keyhole surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
It does seem to be a very short period of time to be playing high level sport again as it is recommended that sport should not be played for 3-6 months afterwards.

I had a horse that sustained a torn meniscus. He never did get better and was retired aged 12.

Don’t you think George will go to watch the football with his dad?

What a close match! Jasmine Paolini is so sweet. I hope she gets to the final next year.

I tore mine two years ago.
Still waiting for a repair.

I have retired already, thank goodness 🐎

Gutted for Jasmine.
When I saw her on Tuesday her energy filled the court. Such a lovely lady .
Congratulations to Barbora 🏆

I was rooting for Jasmine Paolini. It was such a close call. She's definitely someone to watch and very likeable.

It will be great to see the Princess of Wales tomorrow. I hope she manages it ok as the men's final will most likely go to 5 sets so it will be a long afternoon if fatigue is her main problem.

LauraNorderr Sat 13-Jul-24 18:30:39

Fabulous match. I’m afraid I had written Jasmine off part way through the first set and thought we were in for a short afternoon with a straight sets win for Barbora.
But then the second set was amazing and the third so exciting. Shame there can only be one winner.
Both players gave us a great afternoon of superb tennis and edge of seat entertainment.
I have had far too much Pimms and not enough food to soak it up
A snore d’oeuvre beckons.
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s match, more excitement, more Pimms, more food next time.
No chance of a nap tomorrow, straight in to ⚽️ 🎉

The men's doubles is very exciting!

I might need another 🍷

Callistemon213 Sat 13-Jul-24 19:49:23

Yes!!

Sorry, Aussies, you were great.

Heliovaara retired about 10 years ago but then came back and is now a Wimbledon champion.

Callistemon213 Sat 13-Jul-24 19:56:08

Purcell was gracious in defeat but Thompson was not.

Callistemon213 Sun 14-Jul-24 12:39:06

Well done Alfie Hewett who has just won the Wimbledon Men's Wheelchair Singles championship. 🥇

What a lovely exchange at the net afterwards with his opponent Martin de la Puente of Spain.

Nice to see Kyrgios in a suit and without that ridiculous cap. Not really looking forward to this next match. My nerves are already on edge. Rooting for Carlos. 🇪🇸

As ever, the mixed doubles follows the adrenalin rush of the men's singles finals. There will be a part empty Centre Court, with most many people drifting away after the big 'un.

To avoid this inevitable anti-climax, maybe the doubles could take place on no.1 Court at, say, 11.30, to lessen the chance of a clash with the men's, but leaving that singles final Wimbledon's pièce de résistance?

merlotgran Sun 14-Jul-24 14:08:37

Lovely to see Kate and Charlotte are there.

Millie22 Sun 14-Jul-24 14:13:14

Nick Kyrgios looks very good in a suit.

The Men's Wheelchair Singles Final was on this morning.

Unfortunately Tim and Nick are sharing commentary duties with Andrew Castle. I may have to mute the tv.
