A platform for news, views and comments this Wimbledon fortnight.

Andy - how far will he get?
Who will be the most annoying presenter(s)?
Any Brits to look out for?
Anyone here going?

And not forgetting Lucca, who loved the game and the Championship🌻.

He’s done it. Fabulous. Well done Carlos.

Smileless2012 Sun 14-Jul-24 16:23:44

Noooooo can't believe it; 4 championship points lost!!!

merlotgran Sun 14-Jul-24 16:17:13

What fantastic play from Alcaraz. He has saved his best till last.

tickingbird Sun 14-Jul-24 16:16:24

I’m actually feeling sorry for Djokovic. This has been an incredible display by Alcaraz who hasn’t played his best in the tournament before today.

bridie54 Sun 14-Jul-24 15:44:47

This is like a tennis masterclass today. Go Carlos.
I’m surprised too at how good Nick K is in the commentary box. A far cry from his on court antics.

Millie22 Sun 14-Jul-24 15:31:33

Carlos is doing incredibly well 😊

I don't think the commentators know what to say!

Sparklefizz Sun 14-Jul-24 15:27:57

I agree Urmstongran. I felt quite tearful at seeing how thin she's become but it's lovely to see her with Charlotte.
It's a fantastic match and I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

C'mon Carlos!!!! You can do it!

Grandmadinosaur Sun 14-Jul-24 15:26:56

Alcaraz is on fire 😀

Urmstongran Sun 14-Jul-24 15:18:45

At last hopefully some happy news. Lovely to see Princess Catherine and Charlotte. Keeping fingers crossed for her full recovery and I hope they enjoy the tennis.

'Wimbledon' purple this year?
'Wimbledon' green last?

J52 Sun 14-Jul-24 15:09:15

Go Carlos!!!

Calendargirl Sun 14-Jul-24 15:07:24

Catherine’s dress is lovely, what a pretty colour.

I hope it’s warmer in the Royal Box than it is here.

I would be sitting in a cardi and coat.

(I thought George would not be missing the football).

Pantglas2 Sun 14-Jul-24 14:52:47

🎾 Venga Carlitos 😘

Well done Alfie Hewett who has just won the Wimbledon Men's Wheelchair Singles championship. 🥇

What a lovely exchange at the net afterwards with his opponent Martin de la Puente of Spain.

Yes, well done Alfie!
Let’s go Carlos!

tickingbird Sun 14-Jul-24 14:26:59

Unfortunately Tim and Nick are sharing commentary duties with Andrew Castle. I may have to mute the tv.

As ever, the mixed doubles follows the adrenalin rush of the men's singles finals. There will be a part empty Centre Court, with most many people drifting away after the big 'un.

To avoid this inevitable anti-climax, maybe the doubles could take place on no.1 Court at, say, 11.30, to lessen the chance of a clash with the men's, but leaving that singles final Wimbledon's pièce de résistance?

The Men's Wheelchair Singles Final was on this morning.

So pleased to see her with Charlotte

And with Pippa there as support too.

Millie22 Sun 14-Jul-24 14:13:14

Nick Kyrgios looks very good in a suit.

Nice to see Kyrgios in a suit and without that ridiculous cap. Not really looking forward to this next match. My nerves are already on edge. Rooting for Carlos. 🇪🇸

Purcell was gracious in defeat but Thompson was not.

Callistemon213 Sat 13-Jul-24 19:49:23

Yes!!

Sorry, Aussies, you were great.

Heliovaara retired about 10 years ago but then came back and is now a Wimbledon champion.
