I’d like to think that Joseann but due to progressive funding cuts I’d be very pleasantly surprised if the UK anywhere near reaches previous medal tallies. The opening ceremony is singularly unimportant , the performances are very much more so.

I feel sorry for them, so many people, so much effort but so little effect.
They could have learned from our Diamond Jubilee River Pageant which was frankly risked being a damp squib but survived the rain by being more concentrated and focused - if you have a huge performance arena like the Seine, your performance has to be huge too.
Look at the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh for another successful event.

I’m not usually a fan of the Olympics but this thread has been SO entertaining (thank you all!) I must watch some events just to be able to join in the banter. Or the seriousness! A great thread to encompass everything the next 16 days.
