Just that really. All things related to the 16 day event.

Young Welsh hopeful, so sad for him.

MayBee70 Sat 03-Aug-24 12:15:23

Oh no. I didn’t realise it was a GB athlete.

rafichagran Sat 03-Aug-24 11:07:24

I am watching the athletics, a false start for GB in the 100 metres. So sad, all that training for 0.75 of a second.

It’s unbelievable that Sir Steve Redgrave isn’t there too.

Just switched on in time to see the men's eight winning their race - a crowning achievement to a good year for the rowers. It's good to have such knowledgeable presenters as Dame Katherine Grainger and Sir Matt Pinsent, both famous Olympic medallists.

He’s being his laconic self. Andy loves tennis and that’s the reason he’s continued after his hip surgery. He loves to play and compete.

I know what he feels like to a much lesser degree. I love to play but the pain in my knees afterwards is too intense now so I content myself with watching.

Poor Beth Shriever. Miles in front of everyone else in her heats, quarter and semi final but the gold eluded her. She made it very public why she always wanted gate 6 for her game plan to work. I wonder if the other girls joined forces to stop her doing just that in the final. Sometimes it's best to keep your master plan to yourself. I have loved the bike events. The men's BMX defied gravity at times.

I love watching the diving and am amazed at the synchronicity of it.I would sooner enter a lions den than dive from that high board ( timid swimmer alert).

MayBee70 Fri 02-Aug-24 20:14:51

My first reaction was, ‘as if I didn’t love you enough’!

Callistemon213 Fri 02-Aug-24 20:09:03

I thought it was the usual kind of modest, laconic remark we can expect from him
It made me 😁

Sir Andy Murray:

"I never even liked tennis anyway"

Classic, Andy! 😂

But we enjoyed watching you!

I’ve always felt that those two gold medals were the reason why he had so many physical problems because each time he pushed himself to the absolute limit to win them.

Callistemon213 Fri 02-Aug-24 20:00:34

Australia Gold. Advance Australia Fair for the first time in that event.
GB Silver
France Bronze

Well done Duncan Scott. A local chap to me and one of our best swimmers.

Joseann Fri 02-Aug-24 19:53:31

Léon Marchand. The man of the Games so far! 🏊‍♂️

Yes, I watched the showjumping too - it was too darn hot to go out. I watched Scott Brash’s brilliant round through my fingers. smile

I haven’t had it on all the time but don’t seem to have seen show jumping. I did see one round yesterday morning but that was it.Are the BBC not showing the show jumping because of the controversy over the dressage?

Show jumping was on BBC this afternoon - it was wonderful to watch Team GB winning gold, especially with local lad Scott Brash in the team.

Casdon Fri 02-Aug-24 18:24:43

(I know this because when my sons isn’t at work he is watching every moment, sailing, table tennis, trampolining, whatever, he is soaking it up.

Casdon Fri 02-Aug-24 18:22:56

No, it’s not that MayBee70, it’s because the rights sit with Eurosport. Not all the action is on the BBC, you have to subscribe to Discovery+ to see some events.

I am amazed at how brilliantly Team GB are doing in the medal table. I know we have so many amazing athletes, but to be 3rd behind China and USA, comparing the size of their populations is staggering. GB : just under 68million, USA: around 341 million and China, 1,425 million! And still another week to go, too.

Maggiemaybe Fri 02-Aug-24 16:00:24

My grandsons are in awe of her, on both counts. grin

Callistemon213 Fri 02-Aug-24 15:38:54

Maggiemaybe

Bryony Page’s trampolining gold really made me smile. As did the information that her degree dissertation was on sounds made by dinosaurs.

Both amazing achievements!

Sounds made by dinosaurs, how on earth 🤔 ??

Yes Maggie, were in 3rd place now.
They’ve done so well, all of them.
