I have no idea why the World Cup was even held in the US. It is not their national game and after the interference by Trump the country should be banned from holding large sports events.

I think what should happen now, is that the rest of the teams need to carry on as normal and treat what happened as a strange aberration, but get rid of the FIFA President or even replace FIFA which has a name for corruption, start again and reinforce the rules by which football has become a respected game.

That FIFA's rules explicitly guard against political interference (and they've banned a number of countries for just that).

If Trump hadn't interfered and the US team had lost they could have argued that it was because they were without their best player. As it is the message we take away is that even with their best player they were soundly beaten.

Football is as big as it will likely ever get in Europe. The North American continent has enormous potential for the growth of the sport with the attendant increase in revenue. £££/$$$ rule even the sporting world.

I read that Mr Trump is demanding a recount following the arrival of several mailed - in goals.

I think Trump would like to change the rules so that only the USA can score goals. Interesting isn't it that Balogun would not be classified as an American if Trump's citizenship bill had gone through. His Nigerian mother was visiting the US when at 7 months pregnant, the airline refused to let her fly back to the UK where she was living. She gave birth in the US and then returned to the UK. I believe Balogun could play for the UK or Nigeria if he wanted to.

I bet when the winning team lift the cup Trump will be there holding the other side. It will have to be all about him.

I think Belgium should practice with an orange football for the rest of the tournament.

I’d like Belgium to win, if I wasn’t supporting England. That way it will show DT. that his interfering did not stop the US team being beaten by the best team.

On the other hand, if Belgium don’t make it to the final, it will show DT that his interfering didn’t stop the US team being beaten by a team that didn’t even win.
