Oh my dear! Pictures in today's newspaper (Telegraph) of girlies at Aintree yesterday in skimpy dresses, bare legs, skirts slit up to here, bare arms, boobs all to the fore - WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE?
Judging by Clare Balding and Alice Plunkett's outfits today (coats, boots etc ) the weather is still pretty parky but in any case what is it about race meetings that makes girls think it is appropriate to look as if they are tarts off out clubbing? I say "girlies" but there was one picture of woman more than old enough to know better than to wear a one-strapped dress with her embonpoint clearly in need of a bit more supprt and a lot more fabric shock

I think they are brave. Long live silliness. And fun. grin

Mocking implies an attitude of social superiority; laughing at their costumes (a theatrical term is more appropriate than 'outfit') suggests a more kindly attitude - or does it?

I think the foxy lady in dark red, and the black and white dresses are lovely. Would that I were tall enough and brave enough to do the same. Sigh.

My mocking doesn't imply anything of the sort, anno, only amusement and the fact that it's not something I would do. Wouldn't dare for one thing. So there's an element of amazed admiration in my mockery, as well as an acknowledgement of the silliness.

DD mocks my choice of attire all the time, but she's twelve so she would.

I liked the outfit in black and white with pearls too, mice. Is that the one you mean?

Yes! What an elegant, stylish head turner. But I thought the red foxy lady was even better. Oh well, I can but dream.

Yes, that was very elegant. Ufortunately my laptop is being very silly today and showing everything in "wide screen" - if I reduce to less than 85% I can't read any writing, but any pics are still streeeeeeeeeeeeeeetched with unfortunate consequences for legs, bums and tums!!!grin

Blimey! The last one reminds me of the winning dominatrix at the convention I accidentally stumbled on in Los Angeles once!

My favourite is the appearance of the lady in pic number 4, and the lady in picture 14 [on the far left,] wearing an oyster coloured outfit. Her hair was neat and she looked extremely elegant. smile
