Do you trim your "lady garden"?

A recent article suggested that a Brazilian or Hollywood is the norm. Is this true for older ladies? Has this been discussed before?

The association of lady gardens with caves is a bit odd. I would have thought that a garden would lead to a front door. A cave is more likely to be surrounded by wild tangled vegetation (probably rather rank)

Shall we move over to the gardening forum? confused

merlotgran Wed 03-Jul-13 14:01:28

LOL There's no answer to that, Elegran grin

I thought it an interesting cultural phenomenon, I didn't associate it with intrusive weirdos, sex or porn, but maybe thats me being naive. There was an article in the Daily Telegraph about it for goodness sake. If people don't want to discuss it they don't have to. If some people are titivated by grannies discussing it more fool them. I thought "lady garden" quite an attractive term, and has floral, fragrant and attractive connotations, and what's wrong with that. It's better than front bottom, no?

Has anyone noticed that a certain member with a *london pension has not contributed to this thread?

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 16:58:18

suzied! grin

Greatnan Wed 03-Jul-13 17:04:13

What is wrong with using the proper biological term? We are not children.

vegasmags Wed 03-Jul-13 17:28:41

Galen you are braver than me! I was dying to make a reference to the F word, but was put off by all the potential bleating about how harmless/what fun it all is. Good for you. grin

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 17:31:59

Frank doesn't usually contribute to threads like this. There is, however, another male poster who does. Let's hope he hasn't noticed....hmm

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 17:35:24

And no, I don't mean Pete!

Nonu Wed 03-Jul-13 17:51:37

Why don"t you start Greatnan ?

Riverwalk Wed 03-Jul-13 18:13:31

Maybe it's because I'm a nurse that I don't have a problem with discussing Lady Gardens! In the context which the OP put forward, that is.

First, I don't think it's a euphemism, more a 'larky' label - I'm sure the OP wasn't being coy in using the phrase.

Full waxing/shaving is a newish social phenomenon - and it's reasonable to discuss it, along the lines off body image, getting older, sexual activity, etc.

Galen Wed 03-Jul-13 18:29:48

Look at old classical paintings of Venus etc. it's not that new a fashion and I believe they 'plucked'! [ouch]

annodomini Wed 03-Jul-13 18:46:25

Ah, Galen, presumably that's why Ruskin was reputed to have been so horrified when he discovered his wife's body hair. He probably thought that the appearance of the women in the Old Masters' paintings was natural.

Galen Wed 03-Jul-13 18:52:54

Quite!

vegasmags Wed 03-Jul-13 18:55:08

OK Riverwalk I get where you're coming from but as far as I'm concerned there's a time and a place and this ain't it.

Greatnan Wed 03-Jul-13 19:44:53

Why don't I start....what? I presume everybody knows the correct terms.

Nonu Wed 03-Jul-13 19:47:31

Using the correct biological terms !!

absent Wed 03-Jul-13 20:46:29

Hasn't Feetlebaum already done so?

Did you know that ancient Egyptian artistocracy, especially the Ptolemys and Cleopatras, shaved and plucked all the hair from their heads and then covered them with wigs? There's nowt so queer as folks -but they're all queer about their appearance in different ways.

Greatnan Wed 03-Jul-13 20:46:42

Google them, Nonu, if you don't know them.

gracesmum Wed 03-Jul-13 21:19:13

Suzied I suppose you meant titillated and NOT titivated ? My Scottish granny always used to talk about getting "titivated" when she was dressing to go out. I do not think she would have thanked you for suggesting she was "titillated"!!

suzied Wed 03-Jul-13 21:27:17

That's predictive text for you! Why can't we use fun / amusing terms for body parts, we don't use the "correct" terms all the time do we?

Nonu Wed 03-Jul-13 21:30:47

Agreed Suziied , some people can be a bit pedantic though !

Goes with the territory I guess !

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 21:48:59

According to absent, feetlebaum has used the correct biological term - so the thread title should have been 'Do you trim your mons?'! confused

I wonder how many replies that would have generated...?
