A recent article suggested that a Brazilian or Hollywood is the norm. Is this true for older ladies? Has this been discussed before?

I have heard of a Brazilian, but what on earth is a Hollywood?

Ana Fri 05-Jul-13 22:46:40

That's the one! No wonder I couldn't find it...hmm

Ella46 Fri 05-Jul-13 22:51:26

Told you I can never remember anything! grin

Going back to read it now.

Apparently the removal of pubic hair has led to the near extermination of the pubic louse. It seem that it evolved from the gorilla louse and needs hair like gorilla hair to live in. Not sure this makes me any happier about my "body" hair [confused}

I had never realised it would go grey - that was a bit of a shock!

What with tattoos, vajazzle and shaving - I'm almost glad I don't partake any more... Not quite, but almost...

My lady garden seems to be self-pruning these days.
Less bush, more .. er.... straggly weeds!

Absent -A Hollywood is the complete removal of pubic hair.

First comment reminds me of my schooldays, I went to convent from 11 on and we used to host afternoon teas for the elderly now and then. One lady called me over and said " I know I am going to heaven because I must be an angel because all my hair down there has disappeared".

PS I tidy up for holidays

I have just sat here and read the whole of this forum and am amazed at the variety of views and opinions which is surely what GN is all about. I'm also a bit concerned about the number of comments saying this is not an appropriate discussion. Of course it is! Wouldn't we have these sorts of conversations over coffee? I would with my girlfriends.
The title is about 'trimming' not completeley denuding. I've been waxed and trimmed for more years than I care to remember and am pleased not to have pubic hair crawling down out of the legs of my swimming costume! I don't do it for a man, I haven't got one, it's clean, fresh, hygienic and aesthetically pleasing to me - when I can see it - as someone commented the stomach gets in the way these days. Interestingly my daughter disagrees and wouldn't dream of trimming her lady garden. I think the phrase is great and so does my 84 year old Mum.
Phew! First ever post and I've got a bit carried away!
Anyway....hello everyone!

I like a regular wax, no hardship. I do swim 3 times a week. No spiders for me! Thanku grin

I don't know what all the fuss is about. My partner performs the deed for me with his super efficient electric razor. Nice clean feeling, no straggly bits, and a good laugh !!

merlotgran Mon 08-Jul-13 22:50:31

EEEK!! I wouldn't let DH anywhere near mine. He's partially sighted but still insists on using a high powered hedge trimmer on the privet!!

JessM Tue 09-Jul-13 09:55:44

Gives you a buzz does it busilizzie grin

Deedaa Tue 09-Jul-13 21:42:41

Hmm I remember my DH doing mine when I had our first baby - never felt the need to repeat the experience wink

We went through lots of minor indignities in 'the old days' during labour. didn't we? Apart from the shaving there was the compulsory enema which I definitely didn't need as having diarrhoea was my first sign!

Still, at least stirrups were not still compulsory! grin

kittylester Wed 10-Jul-13 10:14:34

Oh, and I've just remembered the stitches. A (very) junior doctor sitting on a sort of milking stool with a spot light pointed at the 'area'. blush

Gagagran Wed 10-Jul-13 10:38:35

I remember that too kitty. My stitcher was a very gentle little Indian Doctor in a lovely silk sari under her white coat. I was a bit befogged from all the gas and air and asked her "Do you do a lot of sewing at home?". Cue laughter all round!

Do you remember being told to take salt baths twice daily to heal the area?

Ana Wed 10-Jul-13 10:52:30

Yes, and I developed an abcess despite them...shock

kittylester Wed 10-Jul-13 19:46:23

Who ever had time, energy, inclination etc etc to take two hot salt baths every day when they had just had a baby. confused

janeainsworth Wed 10-Jul-13 20:32:34

Kitty My children were all born in Hongkong and everyone stayed in for a week - it was bliss. Except that with no 3, I was sharing a room with a woman who was given to alternative remedies and I went to have my hot salt bath to find it strewn with tarragon leaves or some such shock

Greatnan Wed 10-Jul-13 20:32:57

Surely there is a difference between what you talk about with your friends in private, and what you are willing to discuss on a forum that can be read by anybody?
