Hi all. Do we have any hairdressers on here. I need some advice ASAP.
I went to a new hairdresser yesterday to have a perm. I thought I would have a change fron my usual one and go to a new young, ' trendy' salon. WRONG!!!
It's awful. She has permed too far down the back of my head. I have short hair and just like the crown done. I know I should have said something when it was being done but I'm a bit of a coward where hairdressers are concerned.
What I want to know is: is there something that can get rid of this perm.
As I can't see it properly it feels too short to cut.
I'm going on holiday next Wed. so I haven't got much time.

I'm not a hairdresser and I've never even had a perm but I found this on Wiki. I don't know how much it will help but it won't hurt your hair.

I've been looking on line for you. It seems the consensus is that washing and conditioning will help the perm to drop. Someone also suggests virgin olive oil.

Perhaps some electric hair straighteners?

It probably doesn't look as bad as you think, but there isn't much you can do about perms - loads of conditioner and straighteners is probably the way to go...I sympathise!

Vampire queen. Lots of info there for me. Looks like a day in the bathroom LOL.

This takes me back. I haven't had a perm for years but when I did I had some real disasters.

I seem to remember the hair quietened down quite quickly.

Hi petra, I remember friends who had perms in the eighties. The solution then was, the hairdresser applied the same perm solution but instead of curling the hair, this was used to straighten out the perm.

Good luck and enjoy your holiday

I`ve tended to find that having my hair coloured after a perm makes it drop a little, but in your case there sadly isn`t time for this, it isn` advised to colour hair till at least 10 days after a perm. Good luck anyway!

petra go straight back to the hairdresser and ask to see her manager (if she isn't the manager of course) and explain your problem and that you are not happy with the result at all, they have to look at the problem you have, there is a relaxing method that can be used to straighten your hair or at least leave it manageable for you,you are within your rights to have this done free of charge,I have just spoken to my DD whose best friend runs her own hairdressing business and this is the procedure she would use if she ever had an unhappy client she said she can loose a lot of business with just one unhappy client. So I would be back off to the salon asap.best of luck.
