This week Kathy Morris gives an insight into her experience of hair loss, and its knock-on effects.

From trawling the internet to visiting every salon in her area, Kathy determinedly searched for a cure. Do add your own experiences, and of course, solutions, here.

Not at all.

bluebell Fri 18-Oct-13 09:02:36

Charlotte - I fully understand that - what I dont understand is why you put a general warning on this thread when, as far as I could see, it was only the usual suspect offering her usual heartfelt support who caused the problem

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 09:15:07

I am trying really hard not to derail this blog thread any further, but this is too much.

I was very unfairly, and rather unpleasantly, criticised for no good reason. I made no unsupportedive posts to any particular sufferer of hair loss! Why would I?

This is becoming a witch hunt by the usual few.

Ariadne Fri 18-Oct-13 09:30:25

confused

bluebell Fri 18-Oct-13 09:45:35

Oh dear JO - another unfairly deleted post then! Not to mention another unfairly deleted thread - you really are treated badly.

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 09:49:12

Can you please explain to me which particular post you refer to as "her usual heartfelt support"? (if we really do have to continue this bitchiness on this blog thread)

whenim64 Fri 18-Oct-13 09:53:30

Thank you for trying hard not to derail this thread, Jingle. Can you think of anything else that would work to keep it on track?

Tegan Fri 18-Oct-13 10:13:19

j08; this is a thread about hair loss. Can you please, if you don't wish to derail the thread talk about your hair loss problem and, if you haven't got one [although you now say you have] either offer sympathy to those who do, or just not take part. Some threads can be turned into jokes and some should be left alone. You can be a very funny lady but you must learn to realise when humour is not appropriate. I assume I am making a personal comment aimed at you therefore it will shortly be deleted, but I have tried to make it in a civilized way.

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:32:21

when in64 Yes. Bluebell shutting up.

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:36:04

Tegan what is that supposed to mean? shock "you now say you have one"?!

I have spoken of my thinning hair on other threads on Gransnet.

Am I really expected to take all this bitchiness quietly? I am only human.

Tegan Fri 18-Oct-13 10:39:02

And so have other people [especially me] which makes your initial comment all the more thoughtless [or am I missing something here?] Please, for once admit you're in the wrong j. You'll go up in peoples estimation big time if you do. Can you not see that?

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:39:56

And I don't take kindly to being patronized by certain posters on this site. I will not go into my reason.

Sorry about the American spelling. #Fire

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:40:51

There was nothing wrong with my initial post. Any well balanced person could have seen that.

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:42:32

The people in whose estimation you think I would go up in are not, in my opinion, worth bothering about.

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:43:28

Perhaps you could apologise for accusing me of lying.

Tegan Fri 18-Oct-13 10:46:18

I apologise for accusing you of lying.

Ruby6918 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:49:30

after a very difficult break up with my partner my hair which was always full and very thick started to fall out in handfulls, it was so distressing and i lost loads of confidence, they say a womans hair is her crowning glory and i was demented. the only way i could deal with it was to wear big flowers or hair accessories to cover up the bald patches, but a friend recommended taking brewers yeast which i started taking, i got mine in holland and barret and i now have recovered most of my hair it has not been quick, but id say try it, its a health supplement so check it out before but it has helped me!

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:50:03

I accept your apology in the gracious manner in which it was no doubt made. smile

whenim64 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:52:08

Well, so much for an attempt to talk about the serious issue of hair loss. Is there any point in trying to start discussions when they get sabotaged like this? Please GNHQ - isn't it time this campaign to derail threads was dealt with effectively?

j08 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:53:40

I don't think any nutritional supplements can make any difference. Neither do I think there is any effective drug available. The only thing, I think, that could make any difference is HR T and who wants the risks involved with that? sad

Thanks Ruby. I've started taking the Nourkrin tablets again [only for a couple of days though] and there isn't so much hair on my hairbrush this morning so perhaps my hair is back in a 'growing phase']. Am I right in thinking yeast would be vit B12 [?] in which case a lot of hair loss cases might be due to a vitamin deficiency [sp] or, perhaps if we're stressed our bodies don't absorb vitamins from our diet properly? I might start taking a multivitamin again as well.

I would hate to have to have a wig on my head fulltime. But maybe I have an old-fashioned idea of wigs. They could well have a more natural feel on the head these days.

Tegan Fri 18-Oct-13 10:59:13

I agree about HRT. It's so frustrating that it was deemed unsafe just as I wanted to start taking it. I always said that, as a woman I'd age up to 55 and then just start getting younger again smile. So that cunning plan was scuppered. All the women I know that are on HRT look amazing sad.

Tegan Fri 18-Oct-13 11:00:46

I think they still make you feel hot. Even a bandana thing makes my head feel hot.
