Stage 2 of letting my hair go grey now completed. I have had all my "warm" lowlights cooled down to a cool ash, and very pale silver highlights blended in with the grey which was threatening to break through!
DH says it actually makes my face look "younger" (clever man) but I am now looking at my wardrobe and thinkng about which colours will suit me best. I fear any beige/camel/tan things will not do me any favours, but look forward to " rediscovering" monochrome winter clothes, bright crisp red, white and blue (no not the Union Jack) . Purple and deep pink will also be fine but I think pastels might be for the charity bag.
Oh and I need to look out my lippy!
Have you changed what you wear, especially near your face, at all as your hair colour has "matured" at all?

I have parted my hair to hide the white streak in this photo. It's getting larger by the month, though. Maybe I need to put a streak in my streak?

Well - I shall add last weekend's photo to the Rogue's Gallery! I currently like browns and all sea shades, from grey-blues to bright turquoises, with a few pale greens and deep pinks.

I do love these photos, I would add mine from the weekend but I don't have much grey just yet. I have the odd hair, and my 'sideburns', plus a bit in my fringe that is like a white streak. It's so lovely to see all of you in one place.

My hair going grey does worry me, as I am quite red naturally. I'm really not sure what to do with it, as I have looked at all the hair colours and even tried some brown lowlights, but those didn't suit me. I quite like having the warm tones of my hair colour as I am naturally very fair-skinned and I don't want to look like a washed-out ghost.

She's quite bossy Ana grin

Ana Wed 02-Sept-15 18:14:29

jane, your DGD seems to be giving you a stern look about something...grin

janeainsworth Wed 02-Sept-15 18:12:34

Aw thank you Soop. DGD is quite a character wink

soop Wed 02-Sept-15 17:12:42

Your sweet granddaughter looks on appreciatively. smile

soop Wed 02-Sept-15 17:11:32

jane Your hair is lovely and the colour suits you. x

janeainsworth Wed 02-Sept-15 16:03:40

I'm doing 50 shades of brown. My hair was almost black in my younger days and is now white at the very front and sides and dark grey elsewhere. I don't really like the badger look so my hairdresser does my roots in mid-light brown and the sun provides the highlights. I quite like being sort of ginger hmm

soop Wed 02-Sept-15 15:14:20

Falconbird This was how my hair looked 25 years ago. wink

Falconbird Wed 02-Sept-15 08:21:48

I love your hair soop and would like to grow mine long, but it's thinning so I had to go for the short bob.

soop Tue 01-Sept-15 12:45:38

I also like your photograph. Such a sweet baby. x

kittylester Tue 01-Sept-15 10:00:18

That is a fabulous photo, of both of you, Alea. sunshine

Falconbird Tue 01-Sept-15 09:56:07

Thanks Biker. smile

Lona Tue 01-Sept-15 09:45:15

Alea That's a lovely photo of you both! sunshine

bikergran Tue 01-Sept-15 09:37:04

Falconbird lol your name doesn't suggest you are a fierce character lol you name suggests a .....swift and sophisticated clever bird that soars through the skies and gently swoops to and fro gliding effortlessly through the air smile

Falconbird Tue 01-Sept-15 08:46:25

Alea - you look lovely. I think your hair is like mine and looks blonde under certain lights. There's a photo of me looking blonde in my profile but it can't be accessed for some reason.

I wish I didn't have the name Falconbird but won't change it now. It does suggest a sort of fierce character and I'm a big softy. smile

Oh no, horizontal again?

Alea Mon 31-Aug-15 22:00:37

I think I am realising the colours which suit and those which don't by how I feel in different things. I also swear by a little necklace I wear especially in summer as it seems to go with everything and "lift" my face. (Self delusion, but if you feel good, I believe you look better, no?)
The baby is not one of the DGC but my ex-sis in law's new baby, we are very fond of her and her new husband so saw no reason to break contact. It sounds weird but she still feels part of the family! She is Singaporean Chinese and her husband is French. Very pretty baby I think!

annsixty Mon 31-Aug-15 21:19:29

We have seen your profile photo kitty ( when they were on) and that just isn't true.!!

kittylester Mon 31-Aug-15 21:12:05

I agree that everyone looks lively but that doesn't mean I'm going to have my photo next to my posts - that would shut down gn as fast as you like!

bikergran Mon 31-Aug-15 19:19:34

Lorna I have always thought our photo would be nice against our posts a sit helps build up a picture of Gnetters...I know on some sites there is an icon to use if you don't want you actual photo displayed. Detracting off the thread slightly arn't I. Maybe techies will have a look at it some day and we can have a choice, to display or not display smile

Lona Mon 31-Aug-15 13:11:22

I think it's lovely to see what we all look like, pity we don't have profile pictures with our name, but then the anonymity would really be gone!

You look nothing like a falcon, you're much better looking! wink

soop Mon 31-Aug-15 13:03:38

Yet another lovely Gransnetter, Falconbird You have beautiful hair.

Falconbird Mon 31-Aug-15 11:58:19

I know what you mean. You have a picture in your head about someone and it's a shock when you actually see the person smile

What a good looking lot of grey haired grans.

I started to go grey at 30 and spent a lot of money on hair colourants and visits to the hairdresser.

Decided to call it a day around mid fifties when my hair started to thin and the cap highlights I was having weren't helping.

Lovely to see you all!!
