Now that we've discussed the comfy bra, what about the knickers?

Mine always pinch around my middle. And I hate 'granny pants'. Want something pretty. Any suggestions?

Oops - I put this on the wrong thread yesterday! Who Made Your Pants are having to close down. Their stock of pretty, comfy, well made pants are now in their final sale. I'll have to get some now as Christmas stocking presents for my older GDs! Worst of all their workforce will have to look for other jobs.

Cotton knickers. M and S, waist high come in a packet of six, patterned and plain. Most comfortable and practical. Women should never, ever wear manmade fabric knickers. And my husband likes them. So result all round.
PS if I had the money I'd wear silk. Silk knickers are amazing.

M&S Highlegs. Very pretty as you can get them to match your bras, or packs of the same if you want cotton mix or non VPL.

I get the M&S midis which I have sent to me here in NZ. They are more comfortable, last longer and are cheaper than any I can get here. Good old Marks and Sparks!

Tescos do some no seam shorts 2 for £5 and they're really comfortable - I am quite large, and they don't cut into me at all.

Elrel Thu 01-Oct-15 19:23:20

Oops, HildajJ - typo. That should have been olP as in old lady pants!

Luckygirl Thu 01-Oct-15 19:12:46

In like the sloggi shorts that they have now discontinued!

Elrel Thu 01-Oct-15 18:57:55

BRedhead59 - I get mine where I see sale offers, Debenhams and sometimes online.
They do several styles, HildajJ, but maybe they'd all be classed old!

Elrel Thu 01-Oct-15 18:53:03

Rosequartz - indeed they do, and smaller too, (8 or 10 to 16 I think)have a look at their website.

I'm afraid I like the granny pants which come under my bottom and up to my waist and give a good outline. I'm not overweight, but even so bikini or midi ones cut into my flesh and don't give a good outline. I have some no VPL ones as well which are full pants and very comfortable.

gillybob Thu 01-Oct-15 15:39:43

I think I might have mentioned my unfortunate incident when I left the house in a hurry wearing the jeans I had on the previous night only to be told by a shop assistant that I had something trailing from my leg. It was only my dirty knickers from the night before that had got stuck donw the leg of my jeans ! blush

Anyway back on topic. I like a nice smooth no vpl. Not too skimpy not too big. Sometimes white, sometimes black, somtimes coloured depending on how I feel and what I am wearing.

I have a drawer full of knickers, including Sloggis in different sizes, but there isn't one pair that's really comfortable. I don't like the ones which are cut up at the sides. I quite like the 'midi' style which frees the waist but I like legs which completely cover my bum. In the old days M&S used to do panties like that, sometimes in a lacey fabric but then it became cool to show as much of your derriere as poss.
Sloggi is the right shape round the legs but I find them too constricting. Although I'm only a 37in hip and buy anything up to 42in they all leave a red mark round the top of my thighs.

I've been wearing the shorts type from Asda lately. I do prefer them to the minis that I wore until then. I tried sloggis, but didn't like them at all. Plus DD called them "old lady pants".

BRedhead59 Thu 01-Oct-15 14:50:00

Sloggis - every time - wash and wear well - pull you in- BUT they are expensive.

Lynnekovan1969 Thu 01-Oct-15 13:03:40

No M&S where I live in Nova Scotia. On my last visit to England I bought a whole load of big pants that came up to my waist, lovely!
Since then I've lost weight, and my big pants are too big! Now what? I eventually went to Winners which is our TKMax, and got some lovely pretty Lacey little numbers made in silky fabric that feel so good.

They change the colours most years, but I have a drawerful of them.

They look nice under clothes and are very comfortable.

oznan Thu 01-Oct-15 11:53:19

I ordered a 3 pack of waist high knickers from Matalan in desperation of finding a comfy pair.Hey Presto-do not dig in anywhere, fit snugly and are SO comfy I immediately ordered more packs. They come in various colours, pastel and deeper shades too.Not exactly sexy but I'm happy to sacrifice that for comfort! They are called seam free knickers in full or high leg styles and only £6 for 3 pairs.Having tried many expensive ones,I thoroughly recommend these!

Dee Thu 01-Oct-15 11:33:36

When my children were little and I had no money I always said that when I could afford it I would wear 'best knickers' every day, and I do, always with matching bras.
The style has changed over the years from small sexy ones to larger more forgiving ones but I still get the best I can afford.
They just make me feel good and that I value myself every morning when I get dressed.

It always makes me giggle when DGS is hunting around for his 'thongs'
They are the Australian name for what we call 'flip-flops!

rosequartz Wed 30-Sept-15 22:36:33

producing attractive comfortable pants on a small scale
How small Elrel? Do they do a size 14-16? grin

Ana Wed 30-Sept-15 22:29:36

Sloggis for me every time - and they seem to last forever!

Charleygirl Wed 30-Sept-15 22:20:17

Totally agree with *rosesarered. I like Sainsburys- very soft, do not slither down, wash well and are cheap.

Coolgran65 Wed 30-Sept-15 22:16:17

M & S on the waist, laser cut leg so no vpl. Some cotton midi just below the waist. Cost about £2 each in the clearance corner of the M & S outlet store. Lots of black, lots of nude (horrid colour) for summer, And a couple of white.

Elrel Wed 30-Sept-15 22:04:45

Sloggis for years but I might try Marmight's M&S ones.
There's an interesting firm on the South Coast called 'Who Made Your Pants?' producing attractive comfortable pants on a small scale. They source their materials from ends of fabric lines from luxury manufacturers and provide ethical employment for local women.

well, I could never wear thongs ;) - and so glad as they are a major source of urinary tract infections- as the 'string' is a perfect conductor from your a- hole to the front! hey ho!
