I bought it in early December.

Now, I have certain criteria for jumpers, firstly that they should be of a certain length, to (hopefully) cover the worst of the rather large thighs.
Tick.
Secondly, they should be not too "clingy" (very unflattering) nor too baggy (looks like you are trying to hide in it blush
Tick
I'm not averse to a three quarter length sleeve, as long as it comes halfway between the elbow & the wrist
Tick
Black is good, goes with lots of things
Tick
Interesting texture is nice, can give an item of clothing a bit of a twist

OK, I have a long, black, three quarter length sleeve, very fluffy jumper.

So why, when I wear it, do I look as if I'm wearing an incomplete gorrila suit?confused

I think problem is the 'fluffiness' which probably makes you look top heavy. And fluffy. grin

With my (lack of) bosoms I don't think I could EVER look top heavy!

Phoenix I love your description. grin

Perhaps you could take one of those hair trimmers to it and give it a number 1 cut.

Phoenix, do what all the models do and add a flamboyant scarf. Be comfy AND smart.

phoenix, you may (think you) look like half a gorilla in your fluffy black jumper but for a few years my husband always bought me a beige sweater of some odd shade for Christmas. My heart sank when I opened the parcels. One year it was a fluffy, too tight cardigan; when I put it on, with my fair/white hair, I looked like a sandy bear - not a good look! It made a good bed jacket but soon (as with the others - what a waste) it made its way into the jumble bag. Now I try to hint a little at what I might like and, touch wood, no beige sweaters for two years!

I remember buying a beautiful fluffy white jumper some years ago which (I thought) looked fine. Fast forward to Christmas day that year and I travelled down to London in it for lunch with my son only to find that every time I moved loads of 'fluffy' fibres flew off it and went in my eyes! As a contact lens wearer I spent the entire day taking them out to clean and putting them back in - when I look at the photos now I look like I had a very heavy cold AND it added 2 dress sizes to my already ample frame!

phoenix I think I must have an off-white version of your jumper. I was quite pleased with it at first, but then when I happened to glimpse myself unawares in a mirror (when I wasn't breathing in, standing up straight, smiling etc) I just saw the top half of a rather unattractive, rotund, grimy snowman looking back at me... Needless to say I haven't featured in it again. Just waiting now for an invite to a Christmas fancy dress party. A few lumps of coal stuck to the front, a carrot glued to my nose, a top hat on my head and Bob's your uncle...

Fluffy jumpers are only for the very thin! Which of course phoenix you are so don't worry about it.

I wish roses! Although I have lost a (little) bit of weight recently, not sure how though!

P just say no to fluffy jumpers.
I have a fluffy beige natural-coloured cardigan which just about looks ok if I wear it open or have just one button done up at the top, so that it's clearly an over-garment, rather than an all-enveloping one, IYSWIM. smile

I had a nice wool/angora mix long cardigan (not cheap!) which shed beige pale fibres over dark trousers and skirts.

I have a black 'eyelash' cardigan with pockets which is very cosy and comfortable to wear. The cardigan doesn't seem to have quite the same gorilla effect as the jumper! It does have its downsides though-my friend won't let me in his car if I'm wearing it as I moult all over his seats!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 13-Jan-16 21:35:41

If that jumper wasn't put of stock, I think I would haver bought it. It looks so snuggly!

Minibags has a couple of black fluffy jumpers. One has a reindeer on it in white and the other a snowflake, I think. They look great on her. Trouble is, they moult. Everywhere. It's like having giant black cats, or... come to think of it... moutling gorillas in the house. Well, chimpanzees, anyway. ??

Soz, no chimp or black cat emojis, monkeys'll have to do.
