summer footwear

Like Coolgran I find Reiker sandals ideal. I have 2 pairs with straps and this year I have bought white sparkly mules in case I get invited out??
I buy them from Amazon as I can't get out to shop

I have 2 pairs of Ecco sandals that have leather footbeds, had one pair for years which are quite scruffy now but great in the garden on hot days , the replacement smarter pair I got 2 years ago, and still look like new.For people with wide feet, did you know that FitFlops have a wider fit?You can spot these with the double ridge round the footbed, some styles only come in one width fitting but there still are quite a few wider ones.( I've got 4 pairs of FitFlops and think they are the most comfortable sandal ever)

Wow, are we ever getting ripped off by Skechers! If you look at their US website (which is where the link in on the first page of this thread takes you) you'll see Women's Burst Ellipse is $70, which currently translates to about £48.

Thanks for the advice about narrow shoes. I've looked at James Inglis on the internet so might try them. I have some Reiker sandals but they rub in one or two places, they need breaking in. I tried on some children's shoes in Clarks - they were narrower than a C fitting and a good fit but they probably would not have enough support for my heels. Most of my shoes have 2 pairs of insoles in them.

I had decided that Skechers go walk. Would be ideal for me with various ankle and foot problems. They looked quite trendy and very comfortable. So disappointed that I can't get them in a size 9. Feel quite upset as there doesn't seem anything else to match these from another manufacturer. Any suggestions anyone?

clarriecat, I love Skechers Go Walk. Really, really comfortable, and suggest that if you're a size 9, try an 8? They are very generously sized. I'm a 7 and have found a 6 fits perfectly. If you read reviews on Amazon, you'll find this comment popping up all the time.

I have just bought some Clarks Cloud Steppers, (£45) similar I think to the Skechers. These are TOTALLY elasticated with lovely cushioned soles. I got very fine black and white stripe which will be fine with everything (the blue looked very pale) so see how they go.

They are wonderfully comfortable, the only downside is that the white soles of some styles get very dirty, any ideas how to clean them? And, of course they're not waterproof. But the comfort makes all those niggles out of reach!

Skechers can be machine washed.

I was persuaded to buy some Sketchers Go Walk last year as several friends were raving about them. I must say I have been rather disappointed in them.

Basically, they are old fashioned school pumps with memory foam bottoms. (Mine are the pull-on ones) First of all I was rather shocked at the high price considering the very basic style, design and materials, but sadly, they are not the dream walking shoes I imagined they'd be. They are fine in the house and for short trips, but as walking shoes they really offer no support. They are far too soft. It's like walking on a thin sponge. Arches aren't supported at all. If it's wet the tops/seams let in water.

I can wear them without socks, which is good, but the synthetic materials mean feet and sandals get sticky/damp. They are washable though, but far from the wonderful shoes I'd been promised they were.

I'd rather wear open comfy walking sandals in hot weather I think, and buy some sturdier but light shoes for when I have to walk any distance. I was looking at Pavers in a shop recently. They look sturdier and were very light. I'll investigate them when I am next shoe shopping.

Just to say a big thank you to those who reccommended Reiker shoes. I looked at various websites and really liked these. Couldn't find a local stockist where I could try them, so ordered them from Amazon. I love them, really comfortable and I like the look

Re Sketchers Hotter do a similar design and they're sheer heaven to wear - I walked 10 miles in London the first time I wore them, not a rub or blister in sight.
I'm starting to sound like a advertising campaign!

I have just bought two pairs of Clark's sandals - I really hope they are going to be OK and supportive enough, but they seem to have a shaped footbed with an arch support and velcro tabs to adjust for strangely shaped feet like mine!

Serviceable? I hope so
A bit supportive? I hope so
Dainty? - well, no, but one pair could be OK with skirts.

I haven't bought Clark's shoes or sandals for a few years until I bought these.

I'm another one with narrow feet, AA. I also use Special Feetures, but their styles have become rather staid. My feet swell when hot so if the sandal is unforgiving they're uncomfortable.
On DD2's recommendation I've just bought a pair of Hush Puppies sandals online from Shuh. They arrived in 2 days and look and fit well. Just waiting for some sun now!

there are loads of comfy flat sandals out there , but as the OP says where are pretty sandals, also comfy but with a small heel perhaps? We have a ' do' coming up, and I need someting that are supportive as well as attractive.

In summer, I prefer to wear sandals and flats in my daily routine.Occasionally, I wear high heels.

I wear espadrilles as soon as the sun comes out! Not waterproof, being canvas, no support, but so comfortable once you have worn them once or twice. Not much use to anyone, I know, but I though I'd give them a vote anyway!

I thing normal footwear are best in summer. I feel irritated with all that sweat.
