Makeup EVERY day???

I am either mad, very vain or a creature of habit.
I do a full make up every day. I just don't feel right without it- it's me!.
It suddenly occurred to me this morning as I was plastering on the slap that I was not going to see anyone until DH comes home tonight. (As some of you may have seen from others posts I am on crutches following a stupid accident so I am housebound.)
I still put the lot on.Really- why?? I do it every day. On the very odd occasions ( Noro virus!) that I didn't,I just felt wrong. I used to walk the dog first thing in morning & went out ( often in dark) without makeup but came straight home, showered & on it went.
The only time I don't is on holiday when it is going to be a day on beach & then I still use mascara & brow pencil & the full load goes on for the evening.
Do many others do this? - I rather hope so or I'm obviously very odd.

Not odd at all even if I am at home all day I use tinted BB cream, mascara and a light tinted lipstick, you can't change a habit of a lifetime and if it makes you feel good in yourself why not.

I do wear make-up every day, but by differing degrees.
Going somewhere posh, - full make up.
Going shopping etc, - medium make up.
Staying in, - just moisturiser and a lick of mascara.
I don't feel right without any make up, but sometimes it's good for the skin to
have a rest from the heavier stuff, I think.
But each to his own, eh. I'm sure you look great every day, and it's better
than just not bothering at all.

Not worn any on my face for the last 10 years, except for DDs wedding.
And even then, even though done professionally, it soon faded. My face doesnt seem designed for make up.

It is what you want to do that matters. I wear make up once in a blue moon, used to wear it at work but now I seldom go anywhere that would warrant it. I respect those who make an effort before they tip up at the supermarket but it is not for me, CBA. I just make sure I change out of my tats before I leave the house.

Greyduster Mon 09-May-16 11:31:15

Can't remember the last time I wore anything but a bit of lipstick and then only occasionally. I got out of the habit of wearing it years ago, and now, with my craggy face, I would probably have to have a base of polyfilla to put it over shock!

Luckygirl Mon 09-May-16 11:36:31

Make-up - no never ever! I hate the stuff! Can't bear the idea of clogging up the pores and looking artificial rather than me.

My DD has such a pretty friend who smothers her face in a pale mask of make-up and looks totally awful - why does she do this? - who knows?

mumofmadboys Mon 09-May-16 11:40:06

I only wear a little bit of eye shadow if I'm going out or I know friends are coming.I use soap and water on my face once a day and nothing else. Probably just lazy but I am blessed with good skin.

cornergran Mon 09-May-16 11:51:36

Rarely anything on my face but hate not having mascara - don't feel dressed

Alea Mon 09-May-16 12:00:35

Come on grumppa and pompa ????

Tinted moisturiser for me and a bit of blusher.

Tegan Mon 09-May-16 12:28:15

I quite often don't wear make up these days but am always surprised when someone I know recognises me when I'm out and about sans face confused. Especially when I'm wearing bag lady type clothing....

Alea Mon 09-May-16 12:29:48

I expect I would walk straight past you gringrin

wot Mon 09-May-16 12:35:42

Greyduster, pollyfilla, ???

hildajenniJ Mon 09-May-16 12:39:44

Never wear makeup. The last time must have been my niece's wedding six years ago. I have very very skin and even makeup with moisturiser irritates my face.

Juggernaut Mon 09-May-16 12:47:17

I used to wear full make up every day, but when mum was in hospital for the last time I did so much crying that all my make up was gone before lunchtime.
I started wearing a bit less after that, and since I retired I only wear it if I'm going out.
I only ever used enough to look like the 'better' version of myself, I certainly didn't put it on with a trowel!
When DS and DDiL were getting married, bride's mother was having her make up professionally done, so I went along to have a 'test run'. The make up artist made me look like a street walker, honestly, I've never looked tarty in my life before, but she managed it!
So, on the day itself, I did my own make up, I did have semi permanent lash extensions too, they were brilliant!
My grandmother died at the age of 96, and was 'putting her slap on' until three days before she passed!

Nothing if staying in. Touch of moisturizer, powder and mascara for day. Full face for evening and special occasions.
I think my eyes disappear without mascara but when I mentioned it to D she said couldn't tell if I had any on or not hmm

gettingonabit Mon 09-May-16 13:36:13

I always have a facefull on. Never without. It's the first thing I do in the morning (after a pee).

I think my worst nightmare is being caught without makeup (shallow, vain creature that I am).

LullyDully Mon 09-May-16 14:43:36

I agree with you, getting on. The stripped back me is a shocking sight....that includes clothes!

Indinana Mon 09-May-16 15:05:55

Only ever wear it if I'm going out and even then it's hardly anything. Moisturiser, the lightest smear of foundation just to even out the patchy skin tone, eyebrow pencil (my eyebrows are disappearing at an alarming rate shock) and a touch of lipstick. I don't ever wear mascara these days as it makes my eyes smart. Shame because it really does make a difference, but I know I'd end up wearing it in rivulets down my cheeks grin

Gemmag Mon 09-May-16 16:00:57

I do wear a small amount every day, couldn't go without my eye pencil!.
I have to say though that I have never yet seen a woman who didn't look better with some make up on.
There are of course those who think that they look more interesting/professional without it and who think it's superficial. I personally would profer to look nice. ????

ninathenana Mon 09-May-16 16:09:43

Has anyone seen the pics from the TV awards last night ?
Fern Cotton (sp) looks like she's seen a ghost. She's really pale around the eyes. Not a good look smile As for the dress...........

Grannatu Mon 09-May-16 16:24:11

I have mascara, eyeshadow and Clinique face powder (hideously expensive, but worth every penny!) everyday - I look like a boiled egg without!

ajanela Mon 09-May-16 16:28:26

I wear a light foundation, lipstick and sometimes eyeshadow but only in the house if someone was visiting. In the way it is you to make yourself up it is not me.

But I do admire people who can make themselves up well.

Nannapat1 Mon 09-May-16 17:05:44

Most days I apply some make up, but rather less than I used to when young: always moisturizer, light foundation, bronzer, powder rouge, eyeliner, and lipstick. I have my eyelashes dyed and curled, so no mascara
Actually that sounds like an awful lot, but I apply very lightly and it takes me just a couple of minutes!

Maggiemaybe Mon 09-May-16 17:16:29

Nothing apart from facial oil and moisturiser if home alone (or just with DH), but otherwise I have foundation, blusher, mascara, lip pencil and lipstick as a bare minimum. It only takes a couple of minutes. Eye liner if I'm out in an evening and eye shadow only very occasionally these days, because of the contact lenses (my optician warned me off it, even the cream stuff).
