NanaandGrampy I was in M&S with GS1, who was about 4 at the time, when he grabbed an absolutely massive bra and wrapped it round his chest yelling "Mummy's boobies!" I think Mummy might have been flattered by the size grin

I was recently told by my granddaughter " that coat and those ugg boots are not a good look!"

Just shown my bling sneakers to GS3 (aged 5) - he suggests I save them and wear them to 'your next disco Nana' grin

I had a pair of purple sandals in the back of my wardrobe. They had three big shiny "diamonds" down the front. My GD found them when she was about 18 months and made me sit down. She removed my slippers and put the blingy ones on my feet. Even at that age she was trying to tell me something! So, I say, wear your sneakers with pride.

My GD not keen on clothes shopping....she loves Sainsbury s.

When she was about 7 someone gave her a Clare's token for her birthday. It was the longest hour of my life as she went round and round and couldn't find a thing to buy.

When she was 5 we went to Toys R Us and came out with a marine landing craft and a tiny BenTen for the bath. She is getting a bit better , but not a lot. She is off to an all girls school next term for secondary. I shall watch with interest. I love her individuality.

My grandson (8) managed to completely change my mind as to my paint choices for the house. I'm just off to buy the ones he chose.

DGD1, now 24, has been a great help since she was quite young. She helped me to choose outfits for weddings, for my 'big' birthday party and for her own graduation, all of which went down very well. Unfortunately she is now living 'down south' and shopping trips without her are much less fun.

Yes Anya .smile

I used to take DGS3 ...he's 4 . Till that memorable trip in M & S where he slipped away. I heard aeroplane noises and turned just in time to see him flying along the lingerie aisle , a very large cup bra on his head al la Biggles!

I always ask for GS2's opinion when I'm shopping with him (He's 3) He's pretty good at picking colours and fabrics smile

Anya Thu 23-Jun-16 19:15:47

Jamila I won't wear them if it's raining. Instead I'll be the one with the Batman brolley blush

Anya Thu 23-Jun-16 19:14:22

grin and ain't that the truth NanaandGrampy ??

I shop about 3/4 times a year with my DGD, she's 9.

We were looking at swimwear before Christmas when I suggested one. She looked at me slowly shaking her head as she said,'Nana , I like it. But if you only like it and don't love it , don't buy it'.

Enough said !

At least everyone at the meet-up will know which GNetter is Anya grin

Last time I visited DGC I realised that DDiL (45), DGD (9)and I (72) were dressed almost identically in black leggings, loose ethnic inspired tops and flatties.

If you like them Anya, wear them. You can wear anything you want to if you walk with confidence!

Was in Debenhams this week and saw a nice pair of 'sneakers' in their sale. Of course they didn't have them in my size so I went online to order some.

I soon spotted them...I thought...BUT colours are hard to replicate truly on computers and tablets, I now realise and what I thought was tan and cream was in fact gold, glittery and very bling shock when they arrived.

Decided to return them after the school run, but GD1 (aged 6 going on 16) asked that demanded I show them to her first. Then I was subjected to a lecture on moving with the times, being more adventurous fashion-wise and not being afraid to be different.

Result I'm keeping the flashy unusual 'sneakers' and I may even wear them for the GN meet up in Oxford next week. I think I'll take her shopping with me next time I'm buying new jeans upgrading my wardrobe. Trinny and Suzannah beware.

Do others find their GC can be a force for change?
