What's the one beauty product you swear by?

Since reading the thread on decluttering I've been inspired and am clearing out all the little trial beauty products and other gunk I have accumulated over the years (probably a lot of it out of date!). Got me thinking about what I actually use and which products I wouldn't be without. What's the one thing you swear by? Mine is my lipstick (although tbh it probably counts as two because I mix two colours). If I'm feeling drab it's the one thing that perks me up and makes me feel 'done' and ready to face the day.

I like soap and glory body spray which I use everyday . Would be lost without eyebrow kit since eyebrows went and came back sparse . I would miss moisturiser with sun cream which again I use most days

Oil of Ulay (or Olay as they now call it) - the original stuff. I've used it for as long as I can remember and at 67 I'm pretty much wrinkle free smile

Until a few months ago I would have said mascara, but after having a cataract op and not being able to wear any eye makeup for six weeks, I realise I don't need it! I've got used to my appearance without it.

I am with sue01, vaseline is just fantastic, everytime i wear it has lipstick other ladies ask where to buy it. My ex mother in law worked with a plastic surgeon who told all of his patients to use vitamin E cream (preferably superdrugs own)

I've been using Vichy Lumineusse Moisturiser 01 Clair for 15 years as it is the only product I feel comfortable with following treatment for facial skin cancer. It was discontinued a few years ago and I have managed to find tubes in various places. I always visit local chemists on holiday but now have reached the end of the road! I thought I had discovered some on Amazon and ordered two but they've just arrived and they are the wrong colour (dore).I really don't know what I will do now. Nothing else is the same. I know it seems trivial but I feel -- glum I suppose....

Eyebrow pencil. Defines my face and really makes such a difference. Feel positively naked going out without it.

I slap coconut oil around everywhere, lavishly. I do like mascara, but - eek, hadn't realised I wouldn't be allowed it after a cataract op - I've not got anything booked but I do have two cataracts.

Stella14 Thu 29-Sept-16 16:01:16

Tweezers!

Carolpaint Thu 29-Sept-16 16:05:52

Sorry will not even answer the door without full slap on. LancomeEnergie de Vie Perly Lotion, put on before make up cannot now do without, night and morning £36? But lasts four months. Try it, at the same time ask the Lancôme lady to include some samples of other things in the range but ask nicely. I had both cataracts done too, the rest of my make up I continued to put on, why not pre op dye your lashes? Long before the 28 days I was back using mascara, as everything had healed, flew up to Scotland the next day too

I love my Elemis Marine Cream moisturiser. I wish I could find a cheaper alternative but nothing else I've tried compares. (I also couldn't do without my tweezers, which have a little light on them, and a good magnifying mirror, to catch stray hairs growing where they shouldn't.)

gulligranny Thu 29-Sept-16 16:45:50

Like several others, can't do without my mascara.

Rosieroe, where did you get tweezers with a light on? They sound just what I need.

VIOLETTE Thu 29-Sept-16 17:28:21

Lipstick ! never leave home without it ! ...I have several small draws full ...I know I should go through them and cull a load ...but every time I try, I think 'how can I live without that colour ...(you probably can't get it now .....!) ...I discovered also I have so many new, unwrapped lippys, I really HAVE to do something about them .....

Argan oil, better than any of the expensive moisturisers and It's transformed the condition of my nails which were driving me to despair. Try the website Simply Argan-- they often have special offers and they have a good loyalty point system.

BlueBelle Thu 29-Sept-16 17:32:37

Just my eye liner

Craftycat Thu 29-Sept-16 18:27:24

Eyebrow pencil- I have none & without them I look permanently surprised! Having said that I do full 'slap' every day but masacara & powder foundation are a must too.

NotTooOld Thu 29-Sept-16 18:29:15

gulligranny - I have some of those tweezers with a light. They are called LaTweeze. I bought mine ages ago on a flight to Spain (from the airline magazine, I mean) but I think you can get them from Amazon. I managed to get a new battery for mine from Amazon so feel sure they also sell the tweezers. They are very good.

Recently I was given some Shiseido primer which you put on after moisturiser and before foundation. It makes my skin feel very smooth and silky and foundation goes on very smoothly over it. The make-up seems to stay fresh looking all day so I think that I'll be buying some more when it runs out.

A gransnetter recommended Wunderbrow and I absolutely love it. My brows have become so sparse and this makes them look good and natural.

NanKate Thu 29-Sept-16 19:49:32

Seche Vite from Boots which goes on top of nail varnish. It sets rock hard and my home done manicure lasts for days.

Rosieroe Thu 29-Sept-16 19:54:39

gulligranny mine came with a Phillips epilator set I bought in an Argos sale a couple of years ago, but Amazon has lots of them. www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=light+tweezer&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=51747887571&hvpos=1t2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=147441033668252994&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007098&hvtargid=kwd-1458879867&ref=pd_sl_21f6frrse5_b

grannylyn65 Thu 29-Sept-16 20:03:20

Water!!!

angsw Thu 29-Sept-16 20:20:52

Water too grannylynn65! I occasionally use Wonderbrow - it's great.

I'd use Bio oil on my face as it feels so lovely but I then get spots.

My skin is dry but with Hashimoto's my face/eyes are now supersensitive. I must look up an allergy sp cream...

Can't beat water though!

Barb70 Thu 29-Sept-16 20:22:30

Lipstick a must for me. Must admit I rarely go out without full war paint. Enjoyed reading comments will try some of the products over time.

Peaseblossom Thu 29-Sept-16 22:11:10

Apart from the fact that I would not set foot outside the house without make-up, the one product that makes the most difference is eyeliner. Anyway, this is without doubt the best eye serum I have ever used and I've just started on my second one - OZNaturals Eye Gel - Eye Cream For Dark Circles, Puffiness, Wrinkles - This Anti Wrinkle Eye Gel Was Voted ALLURE MAGAZINE'S Best In Beauty - The Most Effective Anti Ageing Eye Cream Available! They also do one for the face - OZ Naturals Vitamin C 20 Serum + Hyaluronic Acid, 30ml. It's very runny so I always drip it straight onto my face and then quickly spread it over my face and neck before using my night moisturiser, or it runs up your hand and between your fingers! I drip a couple of drips at a time and spread that over before using more on other areas. I got it from Amazon.

Bare Minerals make up. It's very effective, pure and looks natural. Their ladies in stores are very helpful if you've never tried a mineral make up. I went over to it a few years ago and will not now use anything else. I was a right make up brand hopper before.
