What's the one beauty product you swear by?

Since reading the thread on decluttering I've been inspired and am clearing out all the little trial beauty products and other gunk I have accumulated over the years (probably a lot of it out of date!). Got me thinking about what I actually use and which products I wouldn't be without. What's the one thing you swear by? Mine is my lipstick (although tbh it probably counts as two because I mix two colours). If I'm feeling drab it's the one thing that perks me up and makes me feel 'done' and ready to face the day.

Tesco Everyday Value baby lotion. One of the best and cheapest body lotions I have discovered - no parabens, neither too thick nor too thin,no added perfume to compete with any other chosen scents, and no stickiness after application.

Clarins Beauty Flash ..... Literally an instant lift primer to apply under your skin make up ....

I've been using it since my late 30s though now only bother for special occasion as no longer worry about lines!

It's been copied by other companies but none are as wonderful as this fabulous product .... It's MAGIC

Rosieroe do you use the epilator? My daughter bought me one last Christmas but I can't use it as it is so painful!! shock

I wish I COULD still use mascara, unfortunately I have smallish eyes and it used to enhance them well.

Now I have dry eye, and mascara always seems to start an infection, so I only use it for a very special occasion (every few years!)and then have to but a new one. I just use eye liner, but not right near lashes.

Sometimes I just smear a little vaseline on, better than nothing.

DanniRae all the time. My set came with a large plug in epilator for legs and a small battery one for face/bikini line or wherever. Admittedly it isn't pleasant to start with but I've got used to it and now I have very little hair on my legs and just need occasional 'maintenance' ? The little one is brilliant for the top lip (but definitely calls for the British stiff upper lip to do it?). My work colleague spent an absolute fortune over the years on regular waxing/sugaring and just last year bought an epilator. She complained about how painful it was to begin with but through perseverance now thinks it's the best thing she ever got.

I did have another brand years ago which had a sort of coil and that really was painful the one I have now plucks the hairs.

Aldi moisturiser, have semi permanent eyeliner - fantastic if it's well done.

Just discovered on holiday XXL PLUMPING POWDER, found it a godsend for my short fine hair that goes flat in humidity. Paid about $9 for it in USA, but googled it now home and super drug sell it for under £3 - bought 10! Just sprinkle a little on hair and rub in for thick well behaved hair, amazing product.

Thanks Rosieroe - I'll have to man up, so to speak! (I need it for facial hair - I pluck with tweezers and use hair removal cream at the moment)

Bare minerals for me too lupin.
So easy to apply, it sort of morphs into the skin.
Also has sun protection, my sister uses it too and she's allergic to almost everything known to man.

I second the post that suggested Argan oil. I use nothing else on my face and ppl tell me I have good skin. Also use it on elbows, knees, feet, anywhere you have dry skin. Aldi sells it. It's cheap. It really works.

Definitely moisuriser for me. I love No 7, but any moisturiser really.

I'm afraid I couldn't narrow it down to one product. Moisturiser, foundation, blusher, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil, lipstick are all essentials as far as I'm concerned. In principle, I don't like the idea of women being dependent on make up but in practice I am.

I eventually found a mascara that says it doesn't clump and actually lives up to that promise - in the Collection range. Now it appears that product has been discontinued - it's so annoying when that happens.

M&S's Pure moisturiser, it beats anything else hands down.
I love the Pure Facial Oil too.

I'm always in full slap, so difficult to name one product..but I really rate Collection 2000 translucent powder. It makes a massive difference to the brightness of my skin, and it's dirt cheap too.

Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream. Can be moisturiser, lip gloss, eczema cream, wouldn't want to be without it.

If I have to narrow it down to one item, I think I would choose Aveeno daily moisturising lotion, as it is good for dry skin on any part of the body. A close second would be Avene spf20 facial moisturiser, as it's the only one that doesn't bring my face out in spots. (That is the spots I was told would disappear by the time I was 18). I'm too lazy to bother with makeup most of the time, but I did wear some for my daughter's wedding 2 years ago. I've still got it.

If you have to limit yourself to one item, a bottle of brandy works well. Mrs P looks fantastic after a few glasses. grin
