Has anyone else received the truly delightful M and S Advent calendar. If not yet, do go on line and examine: it's beautiful and a good way of travelling through December if you can control your impatience!

I always assume that Advent Calendars are for children, but as my friend says ,never assume anything.
I think you must be talking about the very expensive one with a different beauty product for each day.

The choccie ones aren't shouldn't only be for chidren.

I usually have a Lindt one. Its a good way of rationing chocolate up until Xmas - its my big weakness and I haven't had any for months now.

All the boxes on the M&S beauty advent calendar look so small. The products can only be sample size.

I was offered one, when buying something else, for £35 and told the real value was £200!
I declined.

DD1 treated herself to the £35 one so presumably won't be impressed with the £5 choccie one I have bought her.

What has happened to Advent calendars? I passed my local pet shop today and in the window was- AN ADVENT CALENDAR FOR DOGS!!!! Each day contains a doggy chocolate. I wonder how many dogs will just grab the thing and eat it, and the choccies in one go??!!

£35 ????shockshock

KatyK Fri 18-Nov-16 16:55:00

My DGD treated herself to the £35 one too. It was from Boots. Full of cosmetics/face stuff, should have been £250 now £35. This cynical old nan is not convinced.

Oh! Here's one Mum who succumbed. I bought one today for daughter as she has had a hard year and I thought it would cheer her up.

I just hate rip offs , I bet there are £5 worth of products inside . Would not mind a chocolate one though .

Alima Fri 18-Nov-16 17:52:26

I was offered one for £35 last week. I declined due to the fact it would take a darn sight more than that to make me beautiful! ww, I am sure your beautiful daughter will love it!

Ana Fri 18-Nov-16 17:57:34

I think that's lovely whitewave!

It's the thought that counts. Am going to get the Boots one for my own DD as she's had a tough year too.

Katek Fri 18-Nov-16 18:00:26

There's a Yankee Candle one for £25 or if you really want to treat yourself how about a Molton Brown calendar for £150.......!!

whitewave Fri 18-Nov-16 18:11:34

Thanks ana I was beginning to feel embarrassed!

KatyK Fri 18-Nov-16 18:30:06

whitewave yes that is a lovely thing to do. My DGD was delighted with hers, as I said I am a bit cynical!

grannyqueenie Fri 18-Nov-16 18:41:08

I'm another who'd balk at paying £35 for the M and S one. BUT can truly understand why you did ww. I would throw economy to the winds and chuck my cynicism out the window and buy one too if one of my chicks needed bit of a pre Christmas treat after a tough year!

GrandmaMoira Fri 18-Nov-16 18:56:33

I bought an M&S one though I do think it's expensive. I thought I would share with my son's girlfriend and my 2 DGDs as they would appreciate it.

KatyK Fri 18-Nov-16 19:05:59

Or maybeit was the M&S one my DGD bought.... I'm a bit
confused now.

DD gave me the beauty serum advent calendar that Aldi were selling. I believe it was £19.99.

mumofmadboys Fri 18-Nov-16 20:51:09

Can you get 20% off with current promotion at M and S?

vampirequeen Fri 18-Nov-16 20:54:51

If anyone feels full of Christmas spirit and would like to treat me could I have this advent calendar please?

Oh if money was no object I'd have the gin. A whole 25 evenings with a a small shot of gin. Lovely ?

rubylady Sat 19-Nov-16 05:35:50

I was looking through them the other day but as I don't wear a lot of make up or use many creams etc., I thought it a waste of money to spend on things I won't use. So I ordered some felt and some tiny coloured pegs and am making myself a stocking bunting and putting some appropriate items in for each day. I will forget what I have put in by the time I get to the 24th however, so it will still be a surprise! grin
