Has anyone else received the truly delightful M and S Advent calendar. If not yet, do go on line and examine: it's beautiful and a good way of travelling through December if you can control your impatience!

I've bought the M & S one for myself blush I didn't intend to. DD1 had said how much she'd love one and she deserves a treat at the moment. So I got it and it turns out she'd decided to treat herself grin

I could have got a refund, but it does look good value. There's certainly a lot more than £5 (or £35) worth inside, f77ms! I've got a chocolate one too - as it only cost 75p I won't beat myself up too much about it grin

Bought lovely for DDI from L'occitane her fav products, Lindt for grand kiddies. Again coz they are overseas I couldn't mail it to her so she/they will have all of December from 22nd. We have hard a very difficult year so I am fit to burst by their forthcoming visit☺☺☺

Here's the breakdown:

Now, I wouldn't have bought some of these to be honest, but I have DDs and a DDIL who'll happily take unwanted items off my hands smile And some of them will be perfect to take on holiday in my little plastic bag.

The Boots No 7 cosmetic calendar was on sale for £40 and apparently contains £150 of products. Martin Lewis the money man had recommended it on TV. Some people had bought it and were reselling it on eBay for up to £100!
A choccie calendar will do for me haha.

Maggiemaybe Sat 19-Nov-16 11:22:14

The M & S one is all over ebay, for up to £200!!

Anyone tempted to buy must be a bit cracked, as it's still on display in stores for £35.

One chancer is even trying to sell last year's for £42 when it only cost £25. Are people really so gullible?

Nanna58 Sat 19-Nov-16 12:12:47

Might be an idea to buy one and split for stocking fillers , secret santas etc?

I typed at length about my advent calendar activities, pressed the preview button to check that auto correct hadn't substituted any nonsense and was about to hit 'Post' when my kindle fire ran out of puff and switched off. ?

Walk-in baths - has anybody had one fitted? Would be very grateful for any advice or experience about these. I'm finding it hazardous to clamber in and out of my existing bath while clutching the side of the washbasin :-)

wilygran post on the health forum , this one is about advent calendars !

Leva Sat 19-Nov-16 14:47:21

Well, I think you may have been wrong to decline! Each gift is full size, at least the ones I've peeped at and they seem to be of superb quality.

Legs55 Sat 19-Nov-16 15:04:55

morethan2 I'm with you regarding the gin advent calendar - maybe next year grin

Maggiemaybe Sat 19-Nov-16 15:45:43

Oi, Leva, no peeping!! smile

Has anyone bought Lego advent calendars for their grandchildren? I had a John Lewis voucher from an energy company about to run out and spent it on them for the DGS this year. They look like a good deal at £20 for 25 Lego figures.

A couple of years ago DD bought the Playmobil one which built up into a nativity scene with a different figure every day.

I have bought the M&S one. It looks lovely and I am looking forward to a surprise each day. They are a really good way to try new products. I got their "free" beauty gift last summer and have been back to buy one of the products again as it was so nice. I suppose that is why they do it! My Xmas treat to myself!

phoenix Sun 20-Nov-16 11:47:53

Does anyone remember the year I posted the link to the on-line advent calendar that had games, songs, puzzles etc for each day?

Phoebes Sun 20-Nov-16 13:57:42

It's almost impossible to find Advent Calendars with a picture of the Nativity. I have no objection to little gifts behind the doors, as they make it more fun for children, but I think we are losing sight of why we have a festival at Christmas.

Maggiemaybe Sun 20-Nov-16 14:23:30

Hand up here, phoenix! Some of those challenges were so difficult grin

SueinHull Sun 20-Nov-16 14:51:17

@Leva, Yes Yes looks truly lovely, and the comments are correct the actual value is £250 but if you spend over £35.00 then you can purchase it for £35.00. Now personally I would not buy it as I don't use lots of creams and stuff but my daughter who lives in Ibiza wanted it desperately. Unfortunately for her, M&S don't deliver to Ibiza. Me, being kind mum, had it delivered to me and then I sent it on. She had done masses of research on "which one to buy". I ordered some Christmas presents at the same time so that she would qualify for the discount. So win win.

I bought the M & S one for my daughter too. She's currently in the middle of IVF treatment and each day as she does her treatments , she has her little beauty treat to open too. I told her advent came a bit earlier this year. She's told me the products so far are lovely and excellent quality so Im delighted its cheering her up at a difficult time.
