When are you too old for leopard print?

If ever? And I don't mean head to toe chavtastic.

But I've got a lovely black jumper with a leopard print collar which I love and think looks very smart. But the other week my DH commented on it being unsuitable for me. Of course that made me insist on wearing it on every occasion but now I'm wondering if other people are perhaps thinking me mutton dressed as lamb...

You might get away with wearing it if you are a seven year old boy in a onesies.

Loathe and despise leopard print.

Jane10 Fri 25-Nov-16 09:20:32

Sorry to hear that Candlefran. I'm writing this snuggly wearing my huge fluffy leopard skin dressing gown. It was bought for me as a spoof Christmas present but to the horror of the purchaser I love it! The DGS loves it too and loves to be cuddled when I'm wearing it. Win win! grin

Never ever....love it
Dh just bought me dressing gown in m and s for birthday.....so snuggley
I try to only wear 1 piece at a time....it's always admired

Oh, go the whole hog Bbnan head to toe in it ( leopards do.) smile

KatyK Fri 25-Nov-16 10:27:06

I love a bit of leopard print smile

It's only a collar! Tell DH to stop being so conservative. And get some big diamante earrings to go with it.

Lindajane Fri 25-Nov-16 10:30:09

Never. My 86 year old mum rocked the leopard print and she looked fab!

rosesarered Fri 25-Nov-16 10:31:39

Does wearing leopard print make you a 'cougar' ?tchgrin

Candlefran Fri 25-Nov-16 10:31:49

Think of the connotations!

I bought the huge snow leopard fake fur M&S dressing gown as I thought it would amuse the Grandbabies to see Granny dressed as a big cat. It's very toasty and hides a multitude of rolls of fat sins.

Omaoma57 Fri 25-Nov-16 10:33:18

When you're a Cougar! Hee Hee

I don't think it's age but taste. If you like it, wear it at any age. I happen not to like animal prints so I don't wear them be if I did, I would, till I died.

Angela1961 Fri 25-Nov-16 10:37:06

I say wear what you like, when you like, and how you like. Unfortunately I'm fairly conservative when it comes to colours etc, but I love it when I see a lady in vibrant colours wearing something with style.

Candlefran Fri 25-Nov-16 10:37:08

Hide it with this.

Candlefran Fri 25-Nov-16 10:37:33

And respect to your DH for his excellent taste.

pen50 Fri 25-Nov-16 10:42:10

Can't remember when I first saw this, and it's not leopard, but when I am a little older than I am now, and don't have to appear office appropriate, this is exactly how I want to look.

Please note, no diet coke; I like her attitude!

rosesarered Fri 25-Nov-16 10:45:22

It's tiger skin.....and surely that is Camilla Windsor!

acanthus Fri 25-Nov-16 10:51:39

You're never too old - for anything! Wear your leopard print with pride and enjoy. I love animal prints, especially scarves and blouses, although I'd probably draw the line at the Cruella de Vil look. Last week at the Stitchcraft Show, ExCel, I indulged myself and bought some animal print wool for a jumper.

Anniechip Fri 25-Nov-16 10:56:14

I bought a grey leopard print dress to wear at my 60th birthday meal- opaque black tights and patent flats- went down very well! Go for it!!

Nain9bach Fri 25-Nov-16 10:56:48

If you it like wear it. However, I think that it is a shame that doubts have been given headroom! I would talk to your DH and explain that his comments are not helpful. Perhaps he would like to go shopping with you and then you can discuss the merits of the garments! I bet that would keep him quiet.

Beejo Fri 25-Nov-16 10:58:20

There's very little that anyone is too old for - it's just a matter of how you do it! I personally hate the thing where you see someone who looks 25 from the back and 92 from the front, but, hey, each to their own.
I think if you like it, go for it!

TillyWhiz Fri 25-Nov-16 11:05:15

DHs have strange ideas - I've always ignored mine - I know what I Iook good in!

Mary59nana Fri 25-Nov-16 11:13:51

I love to see a bit of lepoard print on especially a scarf it show someone to be classy ladylike and a touch sexy .... men also love it for that very reason perhaps DH knows that

Craftycat Fri 25-Nov-16 11:14:58

If I like it I wear it! Who gives a damn about what anyone else thinks. If he doesn't like it HE doesn't have to wear it!Does he always look wonderful himself or does he have things you would rather not see him in? Like baggy old men's jeans.
Go for it! I'll bet you look amazing.

Ramblingrose22 Fri 25-Nov-16 11:19:17

Lynda - wear what YOU like and don't worry about what others think. As long as you don't look like Bet Lynch it's fine.

Love what Jane10 and pen50 are wearing.

I have a few leopard print scarves which are very striking with plain colour clothes but wouldn't hesitate to buy a dress or top in leopard print if I saw something I liked.

I agree with Beejo. Wear what suits you and you can't go far wrong.
